Lyrics
Maybe someday I'll be strong
Maybe it won't be long
I'll be the one who's tough
You'll be the one who's got it rough
It won't be long and
Maybe I'll be real strong
Maybe I'll do things right
Maybe I'll start tonight
You'll learn to cry like me
Baby let's just wait and see
Maybe I'll start tonight
And do things right
You'll control me
Oh so boldly
Rule me till I'm free
Till the pain that shakes me
Finally makes me
Get up off of my knees
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Maybe I'll be fast as you
Maybe I'll break hearts too
But I think that you'll slow down
When your turn to hurt comes around
Maybe I'll break hearts
And be as fast as you
Ahh
You'll control me
Oh so boldly
Rule me till I'm free
Till the pain that shakes me
Finally makes me
Get up off of my knees
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Maybe I'll be fast as you
Maybe I'll break hearts too
But I think that you'll slow down
When your turn to hurt comes around
Maybe I'll break hearts
And be as fast as you
Maybe I'll break hearts
And be as fast as you
Ahh suckie
Maybe someday I'll be strong
Maybe it won't be long
I'll be the one that's tough
You'll be the one who's got it rough
You're gonna learn to cry like me
Baby let's just wait and see
Yeah well maybe I'll be fast as you
Maybe I'll break hearts too

You, Mr. Yoakum are the reason that the Kansas state issued personalized license plate on my 1997 Mercury Cougar XR-7 said FASTASU! I still have both license plates; my husband has them hanging up in our garage. Fast As You is one of my very favorite songs and Mercury's are my favorites cars. Especially the Mercury's from 1949, 1950, 1951, the 1992 Cougar LS (which I still have, we're giving it to our granddaughter when she turns 16 - she's only 8 years old now) and the XR-7, the 1997 Cougar XR-7 but my all time favorite Mercury Cougar is the 1967 Eliminator. We've been looking for one, my husband is a automotive guy. Once we find that model, FASTASU will be the license plate on it! June 24, 2000 at Country Stampede, Tuttle Creek, Manhattan, KS, was one Hell of a concert!!! Thank you for that!!! ~APRIL LIPKE

Jack Ryan I worked as the backstage chef for a Dwight yoakam and brooks and Dunn concert. I was completely surprised by how much of a pussy Dwight is (this is the description that the dark haired guy from brooks and Dunn used). The guy doesn't drink. Brooks and Dunn wouldn't even go on stage until they finished a 24 pack of coors (not coors light). And Dwight turned out to be a vegan. I couldn't believe it. But I do still enjoy his music.

@@davidhorne8948 all if his song are the best. Makes for some good dancing . And feeling good too. There is a lot of older country singers you would like. Like Jim Reeves, I love You Because,Jhonny Horton Whispering Pines, Marty Robbins A White Sports Coat.

Loved this song since the day it was released. Also love that the bass player evidently watched Seinfeld for his wardrobe decisions with the puffy shirt.

He went out with my auntie once. Our family thought he was going to come to her funeral but he didnt. I wonder if she was one of his heartbreaks because of what he says at the end of Heartaches By The Number "what indian reservation is this" and shes from the Fort Peck Indian Reservation here in Montana

Way way underrated but Is basically my favorite. One of the best male country artists ever. The man just has it, very smooth moves, great guitar playing, awesome voice/lyrics and just listening to the women going that wild is proof of that. For the ladies an extra pair of clothes is nessasary after his performances.
