Now, climate change is having more and more of an impact in people's daily lives, including here in Germany, where at least five people died in the south of the country during days of heavy rain and floods. Among them was a firefighter killed during a rescue operation. In the Bavarian city of Regensburg, the water level in the Danube river is still at six metres - double the normal level. Parts of the river Rhine, a major shipping route, remain closed to cargo ships. While the situation does now appear to be easing, with water levels slowly receding in some areas, several people are still missing and feared dead. However, police say they rescued a woman who had spent 52 hours in a tree to escape the flooding. She is currently recovering in hospital.

@@Just_another_Euro_dude well, we also had a lot of draughts recently. I think the real lesson you can take away from the trend is that things are getting more and more instable with more problematic events.

I wonder how much worse it needs to be for people to actually change their life, everyone blaming politics, but politics just kinda do what people want them to and if u talk to people they all just wanna keep going on like nothing is wrong and many even hate you for talking about the problems of our destructive system

The humans on this finite planet are burning 8 billion tons of coal per year, and 100 million barrels of oil per day, which, along with the trapping of solar heat energy by GHGs, is raising the mid ocean surface temps to 70 degF and evaporating 1 trillion tons of water vapor per day. That water vapor only stays aloft for 10 days or less. What could go wrong? Everything?
@Mikexception
@Mikexception 2 ай бұрын
I hope other things we could so easy recalculate from barrels of oil (which were burned for 100 years before and now it started in 101 year) and tons of coal which was burned much more in past than today . Looks like reaching 18 level in computer game isn't it?

Don't tell me the fascination story, it has been raining day and night for about two weeks. I have been living in this country for a long time and I can say that I only know this kind of weather from Southeast Asia, where I come from. Of course, the authorities took the right steps to help the people and the communities. But they could not plan ahead because such of situation has never happened before.

Towards the end of the video the reporters state that the officials wanted to build infrastructure to protect from rising water but the locals said it would blemish the community's picturesque beauty. But so will a massive flood... So, this isn't quite true that they could not have prepared.

Consistent rain isn't the problem and has been a thing in Germany before last decade of constant droughts & heat waves. It's only been the last couple of years where we see this type of weather coming back. The problem are the massive donwpours that are now happening (even worse if right after a drought since it just washes over the dry ground instead of soaking in).

THis report fails due to its lack of comprehensiveness. The Danube is a watershed river that takes in run-off from the Alps to the Bayernwald. That's a tremendous amount of water. The view at 03:15 is something you see nearly every year when the water rises. Most years it is less severe, other times it is worse. As is always the case, the Wurstkuchl gets flooded. When the waters recede, go there andlook at all the high=water marks made over the decades, and compare this year's mark to all the others. Prolly this year no worse than before.

I gotta say I disagree, rich people flying their private planes cost more harm then you could ever cause and big companies are the biggest offender here, I dont know why everyone thinks just cause we stop eating animal products everything would be better, nothing would change
@TheSphat
@TheSphat 2 ай бұрын
@@miiryks97 Thank you for your opinion, but in reality 33% of agricultural landuse is for animal fodder. EU imports soy from brasil to export chicken to africa and pigmeat to china. The rich definitely are having a bigger impact on ecosystems than the poor, but may I remind you, that we are the rich now. I have a better life than Louis XIV. Meat on the table was always a sign of wealth. That is a small step with a big impact. We could give that land back to nature, give it back to the river or the forest. Humans go vegan would have a huge impact. But i see clearly that is utopian. Besides all the animal suffering, the over fishing, the desertification through overgrazing, the eutrophy of waterbodies. Best tip is actually don't make babies, that is the biggest issue here.
