Actually it doesn't. Totally different kind of muscle. Dance develops long lean muscles and gymnastics develops dance muscle. The way her muscles are developed is restricting her movement. Gymnastics and dance are very different... You can incorporate one into the other but they are 2 totally different, unrelated things.

Gymnasts train and compete on very springy floors. and all their landings are on straight legs... Dancers use plie to cushion their landings. When gymnasts transition to dance they land all their jumps with straight knees... and changing that requires reversing fundamental technique that you have been trained in for years. Gymnasts have moves that look like dance moves, split jumps and stuff... But they don't use dance technique to execute them... Like.. using plie, turn out, and pointing your feet. Yes they have the strength to get up into the air and the flexibility (even tho Simone actually doesn't look that flexible) but the technique is what makes it dancing.

Her gymnastic routines are full of dance movements... She has a huge advantage in this competition.

Its true that gymnastics helps but simone isnt very graceful. She is more of a power house. So she doesn't have the same advantage that heather, an old back up dancer for beyonce, has
