I received the email from them letting me know of this new version 6 (I have version 5) , I will try it, to see how much it improves over Topaz AI... and even if I like DxO , lately I am using On 1 Photo raw, as well as Photoshop . Dear Dave, showing how to jump back and forth to Photoshop is useful for those using the Photoshop. I'd like that you present the workflow within Photolab Elite 6 only for those using this sole editor. Just two or three videos of portrait, street and landscape photos with respective workflows might be handy for those using DxO Photolab Elite 6 as one and only tool for postprocessing. I love your way of presenting your steps when editing but Photolab sorely lacks your attention.

Thanks for this. I'm very interested in the noise reduction functions of PL6 Elite, but well-established in a workflow of Lightroom and Photoshop. I'm up for learning how to integrate Photolab 6 into my workflow and I appreciate this quick look. (Also, long ago for some reason I bought PhotoLab 4 Elite - although I really never used it and actually forgot I had it. However because I own that, I can get PL6 Elite at a bargain upgrade price, LOL.)

I have been loving the DXO Standard Preset - Using it with Deep Prime. I always use Linear Profile in Lightroom - and I used to send it into PS and then do Topaz Denoise. But it is great that I can now send Raw to Photolab from LR and use DXO Standard Preset - send it back to LR and then change profile to Linear do basic edits and then do most in PS.

Thanks for the review! I have Photolab 5 elite and wonder if it's worth the upgrade since I also have Topaz Photo AI. I don't know if I gain that much from the upgrade.

Marked improvement imo from pl4 to pl6

Couple questions... 1) Is XD Prime the same as the standalone Deep Prime 2.. 2) After using XD or Deep Prime 2 first, then running your "basic adjustments" in LR or ACR vs Photolab 6, what gives you the best results before moving onto PS to use TK panel?

Does this need to talk to the web to function fully, or can it function without seeking AI and models on line during operation, like Topaz Photo AI does?

I've never used DxO, do we have a linear profiles selection here? Probably not

If I export the file to my folder as a TIFF, and then open it in Bridge, I cannot convert it to a linear profile for my camera. If I export it as a DNG I can convert it to a linear profile in Bridge and then open it in PS. Also, the two files, the TIFF and DNG look very different.

Thanks for a great video and as far as I can see, the only one explaining a workflow between DXO PhotoLab and Photoshop. I must say that I do like DXO for its color rendering, optical corrections and Deep Prime. As far as I can see Deep Prime - XD is the best out there. Have compared it to Topaz Photo AI and there is no contest. Still too many artefacts in Topaz and even with the new masking brush a little clumsy. Since watching your video I am now experiment with opening up in DXO, making the usual adjustments and then exporting as a TIFF to Photoshop. From there I create a Smart Object and then move into Adobe ACR to use their new excellent new masking options. Then, back into my trusty TX8 panel for some final edits. Maybe a bit convoluted but I am sure I will refine it in the next few days. Trying to get the best from all worlds. Any thoughts on this?

dxo not opening dng files created in topaz sharpening ai, but will open those created in topaz photo ai. any thoughts? happy holidays!

I'm really impressed with the new 2023 version of ON1 Raw. The new super select masking even makes it much easier to edit than Lightroom. Plus it has many Photoshop abilities in it. There's hardly any need to go to another app. How would you review it? Have you tried it yet? I find Photolab 6 really lacking in editing abilities compared to ON1 Raw.

I just downloaded photo lab 6 free trial, my question is, is the Deep Prime noise reduction the same as the raw2 Standalone program? Thank you much.

I noticed that when I export the edited file as a DNG it says "all corrections except color rendering" but with a TIFF it allows all the corrections but I can use a linear profile. Perhaps you could discuss the pros and cons of TIFF and DNG files when planning on using Photoshop for further editing. Also, with PL6 when I open a folder it creates .dop files for all the images in that folder which PL5 did not do - and they all show up in Bridge - I'd like this not to happen.

Hi, great video! I have been a DxO customer but haven't used their products in a year or two. I'm seeking software as stand-alone or as a PS/LR plugin. Someone suggested DXO 6 Elite. I would like to batch process a number of photos that include face recognition if possible. I currently use Skylum Luminar AI and I can batch process dozens or hundreds of photos applying effects like color, lighting and the software will also find all faces and brighten the faces to the level I prefer. Does DxO software do such a thing? Thanks so much! Richard

My experience with DeepPRIME-XD has not been impressive - it added a lot of extraneous structure that made my sample images look horrible. The DeepPRIME setting was much superior. The two test cases were an indoor shot of a wooden ceiling and a outdoor night shot, both at ISO 6400. The trouble with this AI stuff is that it’s only as good as the database that it learns from. The marketing challenge that DxO has is that even if the models improve over time, the potential early adopters get put off by the immature initial version.
