Hope everyone had a great weekend! We are working on fixing Ellie's hair today because I think if they were not so brassy that she would like the bangs a lot better. So I went to Sally's and we dye her hair at home to fix it. It looks so much better when we are done!

I love when Heather is talking about one of the girls and brings up the other in comparison and goes “again, two different kids” cause some parents compare SO much and don’t allow their kids to have those different personalities and wants

Ellie looked good with both styles but I will say props to Heather for sharing the reality of a pre-teen with us and the fact that she isn't scared to show the "real&raw" parts of decisions she makes regarding her family 💕

As a licensed hairstylist Heather is absolutely right in saying a purple shampoo will not help. I think it’s smart to tone the money piece brown if you were not going to keep going back to get that front lightened. My only advice is to not use a permanent color on the girls hair. That only makes it harder to lift when they want to go blonde. I recommend a semi or demi permanent!

@@kayleemcmahon1851 yes I heard that. It might help the highlighted pieces a teeny bit appear more blended but it wasn’t going to do anything for that money piece. Especially for what it seems like they were going for. & at that you’d get more use out of a blue shampoo for brassy hair not purple. Purple shampoo is used to cancel out yellow tones not orange. But it seems that Ellie was happy with her bangs color by the end so that’s all that matters 🙂

Love the fact that it's just normal family life, with teen going through everything we all would go through changing our mind about our hair. I love the fact Heather is so chilled , I had the same problem as Ellie eith my hair and I also coloured the caramel pieces/ blonde with a semi permanent brown. You are all such a genuine family from what we can all see, really enjoy your videos guys

I think Ellie looked great with the hair before but what is most important is that she feels confident in her own appearance, that is the only opinion that truly matters! I think Heather handled it very well, teenagers are not always easy but that is part of growing up.

I know going blonde from almost black hair is a hassle and always takes months to get the blonde shade I wanted. I went a little bit with orange/yellow hair before bleaching again. Takes a while so it doesn’t get fried however dark hair really suits Ellie’s features

I personally think her hairstylist should’ve known better and talked to her about how the bangs would look, as for the color that’s on the stylist, highlights should be natural and it’s way too orange, the stylist should’ve seen how it lifted and known to stop there.

Heather, you should use strictly curls hair lotion it comes in a yellow bottle (you can get it at walmart or target) and scrunch ellie’s hair with it right after she showers and don’t brush it when it’s dry because that causes frizz. I had the same hair type elie has when i was her age and this is what helped me define my natural curls!

I have curly hair and a few things i think can help with ellie’s hair is to use the products you got (it’s a 10 is amazing) and instead of scrunching the product in (especially at the roots because that creates frizz) just glide the product over her hair and section it into about 3 sections and put product there too. Then taking a brush (the one you used is great) and brush the product through the hair to distribute it. Then you can also do the same thing with the gel, depending on how much her hair needs (not brushing the gel though). Then the best way for drying is to either air dry if she has the time or wait about 20 mins after doing her hair and diffuse it on cold or medium heat. If you diffuse when your hair is soaking wet there’s going to be more frizz and puff. These are just my little tips from someone who has 3b hair type. Hope this helps!

there’s just some things you can’t do with that hair type (frizzy, thick, and curly) I learned the hard way just like Ellie. The bangs look good just the consequence is you have to straighten your hair and style them. It’s better to embrace your hair, let the bangs grow out and long layers are really good for curly hair. Learn to style your natural hair. Cantu is one of my favorite products for my hair and a serum or oil for dryness! I understand Ellie cause I used to always have the image of just seeing people with pin straight hair and wanting the cuts and hairstyles they do but there’s just some things you can’t do unless you want to put in the work and style and straighten your hair like I said. And overtime your hair will get lots of damage.

Hey! Just some advice on Ellie’s hair! Growing up i always straightened my hair also just cause i absolutely hated it curly but when i turned 18 i realized how unique and beautiful my curls are! The best advice is to get products for her hair with no sulfates or any harmful chemicals in them id splurge on a good conditioner and just buy a nice gentle shampoo. Now after she gets out of the shower spray it’s a ten or any other good leave in conditioner in her hair and when she styles it in the morning i HIGHLY recommend the “pillow soft curls by miss Jessie” on damp hair and scrunch it with her hands it’ll leave her hair with no frizz and with awesome curls that aren’t crunchy!

Ellie should use the brownlights by redken shampoo and conditioner to help tone the brass!! It’s made just for brunettes, so that it only tones the part that is dyed!

My natural hair is super dark and when I got my hair dyed lighter to keep it toned and not so brassy the hair stylist told me to use blue shampoo. Purple shampoo for blondes but blue shampoo is best for brunettes with Carmel or lighter highlights. (:

The hair situation with Ellie reminds me when I kept begging my mom to let me dye my naturally blonde hair black, eventually she gave in and I hated it and 2 later tried to go back to the same shade of blonde by using bleach twice in one day. I had super short and damaged orange hair for months!

Try a brown color with blue tones! I have super brassy hair when lightened and go through the same orange fading. The blue is the opposite of the brass and should take it away. I also recommend using redken shades eq for toning ellies hair in the future!!

Purple shampoo tones yellow hair tones back to more blonde I would recommend using blue shampoo which tones orangey hair. That is what I use and it work really well. The fanola brand is awesome you can order it from amazon.

If you look up purple shampoo from mexico it is the best purple shampoo ever!! I have like a strawberry blonde hair color but it works so good!! My uncle does hair he says it’s the best purple shampoo, he gets it for his clients.

i advise working in sections when you’re doing ellie’s hair. i’m not sure how girls with straight hair handle their hair after they wash it, but it’s essential to work in smaller sections when it comes to curly hair. i can’t remember how curly ellie’s hair is but it doesn’t have to be super small, i just recommend not trying to work on her whole head at once. also her sleeping in braids might not be a bad idea!

Try Marc Anthony strictly curls curl defining lotion and heat protectant! its a yellow bottle, I get it from target, there's 2 kinds and I use both and mix them together, its so good, it doesn't make ur hair crunchy!

I think dying the money pieces back was a great option for Ellie. to help with the orange brassy for the highlights get blue shampoo not purple. purple cancel out yellow and blue cancels out orange. so purple won't do much to her hair. blue shampoo will take that orange away hope that helps!

Ellie’s hair could’ve been fixed with a purple shampoo to take out the brassiness. I know you said it wouldn’t he,o but I’m sure if you tried it a few times it would help or use an ash blonde dye which is more blue/green based which cancels out the yellow and orange tones

Omg it helps a lot! I dyed my hair and after a while it turned yellow!! But i used a shampoo and some creame stuff for thatans ina few days it was blond again!Its natural u have to use a different shampoo for bleached hair!

My hair is curly like Ellie’s. Try Chi silk infusion on wet hair after washing. Then a curl cream like you show in the video. In between washes, try Frizz Ease by John Frieda. Just squirt into your hands and work through hair. It’s not expensive, you can find it at any Walmart. Good luck.
