ive seen knuckle dusters in the shop on bazaar, knife is from gre abberations chest, not sure about the polearm as it looks as the random drop one. Quick note that there was a event couple days ago where you could get an very good polearm

You can get the Hydra Knife and the Ishmael polearm from the pilgim outpost by doing bounties, but you can also find a polearm recipe on the rooftop where you Lawan usually meet.

They deeply screwed up with the game at launch. But now it's a good game. I would recommend it for people who love good combat mixed with an amazing parkour system and has lots of content. Even tho most of it is not quality worthy.

there's a steep skill ceiling. If you play the game like Skyrim or Dying Light 1 it will feel janky because you are meant to weave in movement, equipment, animation chains, etc

With the upgraded grapple hook, you can latch onto most enemies and pull them towards you. Some human enemies will dodge it, and some enemies are immune to it, but overall, it's a great way to pull enemies into spikes or off roofs. It also knocks enemies to the ground so you can headstomp them.

Haven't played DL2 yet, but damn it looks super janky and nowhere near as satisfying as DL1, but maybe that's just me. EDIT: Just found out Chris Avellone wrote the story for this game and then Techland decided to throw it in the trash following his (now confirmed to be false) Twitter allegations. You have to be a special kind of idiot to get rid of one of the best writers in videogame history, I thought "hey the combat looks bad but maybe the story will be good" but now I can safely say I'm not missing out on anything, fuck this company really.

Okay a few things that I have to say (before you say "I aint reading allat" or some stuff just go back to watching tik tok, if you dont bother reading this and treating it the same way as people are supposed to treat your opinion then dont bother responding Ig. On another note, this is my personal opinion on things, you can disagree with it, but dont take it personal. Ive seen far too many people literally get emotional at personal opinions to heights that shouldnt be reached because of that) -How the heck are the main complaints about the game about old stuff that has already been fixed??? -Calling the combat janky because of someones playstyle just proves you probably never played the game yourself. This guy plays janky, but the combat is not janky at all, it literally depends on how you play, you could do the same shit in dl1 too btw. -Just using "oh but its not like dl1" as an argument is stupid af. Why the heck would a sequel be supposed to be exactly like the prequel? They kept the main features, and only expanded on them. Like how the heck are people complaining about the game taking place in another region? When the literal canon ending of the prequel was the virus breaking out of the quarantine etc. It was clear that it wouldnt be contained, and I am sure that there wouldve been way more criticism if the game did not expand on the severity of the disease all over the world. I do agree that the lore isnt good, but that was not the case for either of the games. The Dying Light franchise was never really known for its lore. -The game us nowhere near bad, if you call it that, well its your opinion, but literally it just isnt. The game shows major expansions on what makes the dying light franchise different from an average zombie game, aka the parkour. Techland is one of the more community friendly studios, even replying on small creators criticism videos that they took said thing into account. And for the new guns, they just fixed things that just made 0 sense, like magically loaded back bolts, or not clicking the magazine release on their new animations in dying light 2. The people that say "oh but everything was better back then" are just blinded by nostalgia, the same like how we say "oh but back in the early 2000s everything was so much better" altough it statistically wasnt. -Plus, youve got some nerve to call the updates bad considering how the game has risen to great heights in playercount again. It had an average of 3000 active players, less than dl1 before, but rn its about 41,034 (source, Steam database). I feel like at this point its just hating for the sake of hating. Like how people need to hate on anything just for the sake of some controversy lol..

You fight plenty of humans and zombies alike. During many quests and bandit camps like these, you'll fight plenty of humans, but in general open world gameplay, you'll mostly be killing zombies. Nighttime is almost 100% zombies

Their blocking animation played literally actually at random, so you could get blocked over 3 times in a row. The zombies would fall over from a slight breeze, in DL2 they keep their balance more but it's still easy to knock them down

It sucks that after such long time enemies still cant ragdoll if you hit them repeately even with a 2 handed weapon and instead you get to see same "getting hit" animations in a loop, thats one of the reasons why combat feels better in DL1

Human enemies would not ragdoll if you drop kicked them in DL1. Regardless of what one hit them with, they would either block at random, or play an animation of getting stunned

Zombies can use some improvements, but human combat is 100% better with better AI (they actually chase you, they don't forget about you and encircle you), enemy variety (in DL1 you had gunmen and melee guys, in DL2, you have basic melee guys, heavies, archers, spearmen, pyromancers and now recently they started throwing grenades on you), more enviromental traps like lanterns, fuse boxes, the skills work much better with the enviroment where you vault across objects to kick them or from monkey bars, the grappling hook is amazing in combat. Humans in DL1 also randomly blocked 90% of sharp throwables (it just fell off of them) and gunmen in missions often turned the game from a mobility combat game into a generic FPS shootout situation, but made easier with survivor sense. They were also huge health sponges.

Have we played the same game? DL1 had terrible human combat experience. There was no block mechanic, you could only dodge attacks, you had to take turns unless you decide to instantly kill them with the airborne attack skill you unlock. With this game I can block, parry, climb on and jump kick the next enemy, send them 4 stories down with me pushing them off the edge with me following suit. I’m genuinely confused where you guys get this from 🤨

You must have picked up dl2 after all the updates and patches. The combat was abysmal. It’s a lot better now for sure but I still enjoy dl1 combat because of the impact and the physics. It feels way better. They even had to add the impact effect from dl1 because people complained of weapons just passing through with no real reactions

He probably goes in with a general idea of what he wants to do, but as someone who's played over 1000 hours, I can confirm that chaining together all these combos, tools, and finishers is pretty easy once you get plenty of skills and gear. Most DL2 players should be able to replicate these combos once they know what they're doing. Many of us just spam OP weapons for efficiency over style. But just because it's easy to spam OP attacks, it doesn't mean you have to script multiple scenarios for a more stylish approach. One of my favorite combos is to use a lightning blast mod from my weapon, and while the enemies are stunned, I lay down a shrapnel trap to keep them fully stunned for an extra 8 secs. During the shrapnel stun, I throw 3 explosive knives at different enemies and they all explode at the same time.

You don't need scripting. You can just go to the specific areas and have those specific weapons equipped and you can easily replicate that if when you get the hang on on the combat. To make it more stylish with the finishers, you can equip weapons with more stance damage to make them easier available, but that's basically it. I do it pretty much all the times, except sometimes virals or spitting virals make it harder and I have to go more for survival than style.

the game still takes control from our hands too often, it feels sluggish compared to DL1, and there are too many animations during combat, you are always getting shoved, grabbed by zombies or you get stuck into an animation for too long after hitting an enemy or finishing it

To be audibly distinct my guy. It plays into feedback feel. Sure the sound could be different, but in fast paced situations it lets you know exactly what move you just did and the response to it (the sound is different if it kills and pops the head, or just does damage and doesn't pop the head). Without it, it just leads to player confusion. It's something you appreciate playing the game, not watching it.
