If anyone wounder why Jigglypuff is in Smash. Clafairy was originally meant to be franchise mascot (in fact Mr. Mime was planed for cartoon, what gladly didn't happen). But due to popularity of Pikachu, who is rare cough in Viridian Forest and for long time only electric type in the game. So it become fan favorite instead. Jigglypuff is also way more popular then Clafairy and look almost the same, so it become unofficial franchise mascot instead (fun fact: It is due to they similarity to Mr. Saturn from Earthbound, as Creatures Inc. is actually third member of Pokemon Company).

@@nameless8937 In both instances I'm almost positive they're just used as textures for the parts of their models with reflections (in Brawl the reflection on the Metroid trophy is the Super Metroid title screen for example).

Sakurai randomly shadowdropped a new form of Battlefield on us a couple weeks back, and even though that's just a slightly altered version of a pre-existing stage, I wouldn't be surprised if he gave us new stages aside from the fighter packs. Smash 4 did that with the N64 returning stages.

@Muse Suse Only a select few Mii costumes allow you to change their color, and the DQ Martial Artist costume is not one of them. iirc, none of the costumes based on existing characters/franchises can have colors changed, except the Toad costume for Brawler.

When I heard the fans wanting Goku, I was strangely reminded of Dragon Power, an NES game that was actually a modified version of one of the earliest Dragon Ball games for the Famicom. It featured a generic karate kid and kung fu master as Goku and Master Rossi respectively and while the game isn’t worth playing nowadays, it’s interesting how Dragon Power, by sheer technicality, was the US’ first exposure to Dragon Ball since I believe the Harmony Gold dub for Dragon Ball came afterwards.

I think it would be the first instance of a Nintendo character from a game that came out in the US and not in Japan. Which would be nice, considering how often that used to happen in Smash's rosters. And it's not like there aren't already obscure characters in these games. Mike had two games!

@Wreck-It Rolfe Alph deserves to be an Echo Fighter more than anyone else. It would’ve been super easy, too. Here’s how I would’ve done it: Alph commands red, yellow and blue Pikmin like Olimar, but Alph does not have access to purple and white Pikmin. In their place, Alph uses Rock Pikmin. Rock Pikmin are immune to bury attacks (like DK’s side-B and K. Rool’s down tilt) and piercing attacks (like Corrin’s side-B and Byleth’s forward smash). Rock Pikmin are slightly faster than purple Pikmin, but not by much. Like purple Pikmin, Rock Pikmin bounce off of enemies when thrown with side-B. Smash attacks performed with Rock Pikmin deal heavy shield damage, but not enough to break them in one hit. Rock Pikmin have short range, like purple Pikmin, but are very powerful to compensate. If possible, change Olimar’s up-B to his jetpack from Hey! Pikmin, resulting in Winged Pikmin being exclusive to Alph.

At the release of Smash 64, the latest Fire Emblem game was the fourth in the series, Genealogy of the Holy War. At the time, the only preceeding games were Shadow Dragon (Starring Marth), Gaiden, and a remake/sequel of the original game. Ogma could probably be seen as a decent choice, as he is a mercenary that joins Marth's party. However, seeing as how he isn't a main character, he would have certainly been strange. Especially when contrasted with Alm, Celica, Sigurd, or Seliph as potential choices, as each were the only main characters in the series to exist (besides Marth) in the series. After Smash 64 released, Thracia 776 was released for the SNES, which would make Leif the latest main character. Of course, we have the ever-present story about how the then in-development sixth installment featured a spunky red-haired kid named Roy. The rest is history. Worth noting, every single character mentioned here uses a sword, with the exception of Celica who is also capable of using magic, Sigurd who also uses lances, Alm who can learn bows, .Seliph who can learn lances, and Leif, who, with much difficulty, can use pretty much every single weapon type at his peak. Cool dude.

My sentiments exactly, goku would be neat in smash, but it would undermine the fact that smash is a celebration of VIDEOGAMES, NOT ANIME, and that's why I personally don't want goku or any other cartoon/anime character in smash, and the people who want goku should shut it

StarTropics, Geist, Odama, Uniracers, A Kappa's Trail, Zekkyo Senshi Sakeburein, Endless Ocean and Tin Star are the only Nintendo IPs prior to Ultimate's release that have yet to see any content in Smash...post ( or too close to ) Ultimate's release, that list also now includes Dragalia Lost, The Stretchers and Good Job. Ultimate also strangely lacks any content for Cadence of Hyrule, Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors, the Battalion Wars games or the Tingle games... there are likely other games & IPs I'm forgetting, but those are the ones I know for sure...

I'd guess that's because StarTropics and its sequel have never been released in Japan, not even on Virtual Console or Nintendo Switch Online. And we know how heavily biased the Smash games are toward Japanese characters and games...

Apparently, according to the definition of the word language "...speech and writing that is used by *_*people*_* of a particular country or area" they aren't, because semantically (ethically is a different thing entirely) only humans are considered 'people' so anything else using a method of communication cannot be considered 'language' by definition. Since Pokemon's names are localized, aka used by people of a particular country or area, since Pokemon are verbalizing/speaking the localized names that we (humans/people) have given each species (names which are spoken by humans to each other to communicate which Pokemon we mean), then most of them are in fact using many languages that are used by people of particular countries, just not very well (they each know 1 word of each language), but *_equally_* well as is required by the definition of bilingualism or in this case, multilingualism. *with some exceptions of course, in Pokemon that do not say their names and just make seemingly random noises.
