After making the first slice on the ends of the onion, rinse the whole onion under cold running water. It seriously cuts down on the tears. I have been doing this for 20 years, and I never cry anymore when cooking with onions.

The fact that it was crunchy was a big problem, he didnt hollow out the onion enough, baked stuffed onions should be caramalized not crunchy And modern pb is so much sweeter than it used to be, the recipe doesnt sound at all appetizing but if it was done with the tech, skills, and ingredients of the time it might have turned out better

When my father was a young man he went sailing with a friend of his. They realized half way through the day that they hadn't thought to bring any food. Somehow the only things they had on hand were a jar of peanut butter and some onions. One thing lead to another and they ended up eating onion and peanut butter sandwiches using the onions as the "bread". I always thought that story was crazy as I would have just eaten the peanut butter and shunned the onions! It is truly bizarre to now know that anyone anywhere ever put onion and peanut butter together on purpose!

To avoid tears while cutting onions, soak a napkin and squeeze it out a bit. Put it next to the onion while cutting it. The vapors will go for the napkin. It's hard to believe but it works.

I thought the crying in the thumbnail was just from how bad the food was. Then I realized “oh it’s from cutting the onion” but the end twist revealed it was both! Also “this has a face for radio.” Sir you belong in a vintage three piece suit.
