@@1cryogen Not necessarily, in a room full of hard stares and listening ears, when all the attention is on you it's nice to get a compliment whilst singing your song because it eases your tension... Notice how dylan said it at the moment Donovan had a repetetive line and says "that's what I'll do I'll sing a song for you" and people have a little chuckle.. Dylan says it at that moment to ease tension and basically say don't worry we ain't laughing at you or anything the song is good

In the film Dont Look Back is where this clip comes from. What looks like Donovan hesitating, is really a nervousness from a situation prior to when this clip starts...someone earlier threw a glass out the window, they are in a hotel. Dylan chewed out Donovan, not because he thought Donovan did it, but Dylan did assume it was someone in Donovan's entourage....now some back story, the hotel was already fed up with Dylan's group...noise complaints and when confronted Dylans manager was a jerk to hotel manager. So Dylan freaked over a glass being thrown out the window because he didn't need more heat from the hotel and he didn't want someone on the street getting hurt :20 you see Dylan apologize to Donovan saying "hey, I just didn't want anyone to be hurt". " I just didn't want the glass to hurt anybody."

There are people who get excited / inspired by things other than drugs.. you put a group of people who are that passionate about music and human energy in a small room with a guitar and u prob wouldnt need any drug to feel high. The drugs arent necessary, in fact, theyre a distraction from the true inspiration... but thats not to say there werent any drugs in that room! I couldnt say for sure.

The wife of one of the cameramen for the making of "We Are The World" said Dylan was nervous beyond belief (most likely because he was in the presence of REAL vocalists), and he was gonzo on coke and wine.

still there was a great quality to donovan and he was by far my favorite. bob dylans twangy nasal voice was less enjoyable but i did see dylan and the dead at angels stadium and was completely blown away

Donovan was a fine pop star who, like most pop stars, faded into relative obscurity. Dylan, on the other hand, went on to become only the 10th American to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. What’s priceless is the film captures that moment of bleak realization for Donovan. Bobby already knew it.
