Your right, foal is just another word to explain the something. Like calling a baby a baby instead of infant.. or a baby human instead of infant.. same thing. 💛✨ to say the horse isn't a baby it's a foal makes the other person sound like a moron 🙄😆🤣

@Jack Straw Everything on Earth has a proper name. Lazy asses are too lazy and unintelligent to look it up when information is available at everyone's fingertips. Good question - I'd start by saying that early exploration/agriculture would have been stunted for centuries, several conquerors wouldn't have been able to leave their mark on history (Gengis Khan, Alexander the Great, Hernan Cortez), areas such as Mongolia would have a lessened significance as they do today, and - assuming a different animal couldn't come along and fill the gap - in many ways we probably wouldn't be as advanced as we are now without a horse to give us a technological leg up.

It’s no different than your dog or your cat having puppies or kittens. Some might be a little protective or nervous but generally speaking you care for that animal every day and it’s domesticated. It’s not going to be an issue. It’s strange to me how people seem to intuitively understand this when they see people greeting a dog’s newborn puppies but not with horses.

I would be watching the horse's ears. If her ears go back, I stop, and calmly give them more room, backing away. This mare had her ears forward the whole time, listening to the boss talking to her in a calming tone. Duly noted: the boss reached out to the mare for brief moment of physical contact and reassurance from the boss, leaving the new foal alone.

Its good to see someone promoting actual good behavior around animals. No attempt to touch the baby, nothing momma could interpret as a threat. So many would just rush in to pet the baby without realizing how protective the mothers are at first, they very much can attack even if you dont think you're being a threat to the newborn. A lot of youtubers are especially bad for this. What a lucky momma indeed to be in such good care with her foal.

Touching baby shouldn’t be an issue with momma. If it is, momma isn’t a suitable mother/brood mare, or she doesn’t trust you. Getting foals used to things in life are crucial to their future lives- we’ve had horses in that weren’t touched for years after birth, and not only were they dangerous, but a lot of them were distrusting of people and aggressive asf. Plus, a foal needing to be led around is vital: if an emergency happens where it has to trailer to a vet clinic and it doesn’t know how to walk respectfully next to people or into the trailer, it’s not going to the vet clinic, and lots of vets only do house calls for colic and moderate punctures and wounds.

DeadShot_98 I’m so sorry for the loss of your young horse. I recently read a fiction novel where someone (of course, the bad guy!) put a weed that’s poisonous to horses near the regular food. They caught it in time and saved the horse, but it would’ve died if they had waited longer. I don’t know if there really is a weed like this, but fiction novels often have some truths in them.

@@2kitties thank you , and yes like I said I don’t know how our baby passed if they are really good at telling what food is good and what is bad. It’s one of the rules like never shake a persons hand sitting down, keep your word, drink water where a horse drinks water

Is it the norm for horses to have their babies unassisted?
@NatayaDellavedova
@NatayaDellavedova 9 ай бұрын
@@christinemason2938 Yes, it is but my mum did go out and keep an eye on the mum just in case. Most horses are able to give birth unassisted and a lot of the time it’s better to not have someone there. But if something goes wrong than somebody might need to help

I remember when my family bought a wild burro to protect our cows back in California. We had coyotes in the outer edges of town, and we didn’t have a stable protection dog program up there, but there was a wild burro program. Jemma hated everyone but my dad (who’s basically a cowboy) and 9 year old me. One morning I went outside at the crack of dawn to feed the animals (as was my tradition, much to my mom’s amusement) and lo and behold, there was a gangly, brownish donkey foal. You couldn’t even tell where Jemma had given birth, it was incredible. Gypsy was the best little girl ever, I miss her so much

I'm not familiar with horse training, is that common? Is it better to let the family bond? Is it detrimental to the foal if people touch them?
@Sweetlyfe
@Sweetlyfe 9 ай бұрын
@@jennahmercado924Often the Mare (mother) will get very protective of their foal, and just like any mother they want to bond with their baby, this mare obviously feels very secure with her owner that she didn’t push the foal behind her and get her body between her foal and her human, also the mare nuzzling her owner’s hand with her mouth is a sign of a deep bond she has with her owner. To gain a horse’s trust is a really beautiful thing.

You should see the unacceptable and awful way the guy at Random Okie Farm treated the baby Zonkey there named Peppermint when it was born! (Half Zebra, half Donkey.) Within an hour or so of birth he hugged it to him tight as it struggled to escape, and things only got worse from there! A day and a half later he forced a halter on, then yanked and yarded on it by rope as Peppermint again fought to escape! He has traumatized the poor thing severely, and taught it to hate being caught and haltered. There will be nothing but trauma, cruelty, and force from then on. He talked about Pressure and Release, and thinks he understands it, but he obviously does not. Nevermind the fact that's far too soon to train him in any way! And the first step is always establishing trust! But he destroyed all trust entirely. So I wrote to his wife, who is very sweet and caring, but a little intimidated or brainwashed by him. I knew it was too late for that Zonkey, but I begged her to please diplomatically get him to learn how to use P and R properly. She didn't reply, but I didn't think she would. They haven't shown any more of the poor baby's so called training since then. Poor little Peppermint was only 2 and 1/2 days old when the guy nearly pulled his newborn head right off! I cried and cried. So now they are hiding his mistreatment of Peppermint. I believe the wife did try to reason with him, because she truly loves the animals all so much, but some men are just arrogant bullies, and I doubt she can control or even reason with him. He's a know it all who won't listen to her. Poor little Zonkey. Peppermint is so cute with his partial markings! I realize halter and lead training does need to be done fairly early. But yanking on his neck so hard like that, and so early? No. That kind of emotional trauma is so cruel! And counterproductive! I hope they do go to a zebra trainer as she mentioned in 1 of the 3 videos of Peppermint. And I hope somehow she is able to reduce his mistreatment of the poor little guy. 😭😢😭😢😭
