As far as knocking off the Big Mac, It is rumored that the Big Mac is actually a knockoff of the "Big Wink" which was sold by Winky's (A defunct fast food restaurant from the Pittsburgh area), and the concept of the double decker burger with a special sauce was originally introduced by Bob's Big Boy. Therefore, it would be pretty hard for McDonald's to claim that offering a Big Mac "style" vegan burger is a knockoff of their Big Mac.

“Five Lads” took me out

Mr. Charlie's looks more like McDonald'ds than McDonald's does. Most McD's interiors and exteriors are full of dull grey and black color schemes while Mr. C's had the bright red and yellow colors that pop and catch your attention. I don't know how their food is but they got the look down way more than a lot of McD's places do.

As an Aussie, I'll never get over Americans saying a "chicken sandwich" instead of a chicken "burger". A sandwich is bread, like sliced bread, not a bun. And why are you guys always saying "I'm nervous/scared to try this!"? WHY? You already walked in and ordered food that looks perfectly fine. That literally makes no sense.

I live in Jackson Michigan where the second location of doll n burger is and when we heard about the law suit, I couldn’t help but laugh, has no one ever noticed the similarities of in and out with five guys, Steak ‘n Shake, rally’s/checkers? All of these places have the same color scheme, same style menu, and at some point employees wearing white paper hates and red aprons and the cups all have white with a red patterned design. But cool that you came close to our neck of the woods and when the lawsuit was going on it really was the hot gossip around here. 😋

I live in Detroit MI, and I did not know about Doll n' Burger. I'm going to have to check it out.

I clicked on this randomly and by chance I am from the town where the Doll 'n' Burgers you visited is at. It used to be an old Taco Bell and when it moved D&B came into the picture. As a local I come here from time to time but it can be a little expensive for the portions. They do have a rewards program that helps make up for the price premium. The quality is the best on the boulevard though I will say that. Every time it is fresh and made to order. Cool to see you in our town!

You didn't actually need to go overseas to go to a Chik-fil-a knock off... like a year ago when I was in Virginia there was a weird restaurant called Chickn' Eatz in Strasburg VA... the place had almost the exact same menu as CFA... sandwich, waffle fries, and the mac and cheese were all EXACTLY the same. Even the building and the general vibe were similar to CFA. Very surprised they weren't sued.

In Sydney Australia we had a pub burger joint called Down-n-Out burger. After the subsequent lawsuit they ended up being called The Nameless Bar. The burgers were pretty fantastic and the bar had a wonderful atmosphere with citypop playing over clips of 80s anime on the TV screens. Sadly, the restaurant didn't survive covid and closed down.
