Tip: After you've used the gasket maker, store it in an air tight container and into the fridge. It won't dry out this way and you can use it multiple times. You're welcome

just tried it today and it was really easy. my silicone tube didn't had that tip so i justed used a small medical syringe. now my skyva binds like a charm, really consistent and better when i bought it :)

just did it as an experiment on my yoyofactory one responsive version, the response was perfect as if i bought a new one So I tried it on my magicyoyo n8, and it came out perfectly. just a little cleaning and lubricating, the bearing will be perfect so thank you Dylan.

Dude, after like thousands of bad tutorials and tons of trial and error this is the exact same process i use in my yoyos. the best tutorial i've found about it.

This video was awesome. I love the way my yoyos respond with this system. Binds are way better now, especially since all my yoyos are magic yoyo and the stock pads get slippy.

Watched this a few times in the past month. Thanks for putting this up (very late comment here). I still haven't been able to get a good response pad out of this. I'll keep working at it. For me the smoothing doesn't go well and it ends up with a bunch of bumps or under-filled, etc. Man this stuff smells, too!

You make it look so simple. First try I think I pressed too much and the fill was concave. I tried to fill it up and ended with silicon all over my fingers. One thing I did notice now (second time I watch the video) is that you go from the water to the silicon. I was shaking my hand to remove the excess of water and even rubbing my fingers to keep it just moist. One thing I did notice is that this stuff is hard to remove from plastic yoyos :P Edit: Also, great video!

Have you tried using black or clear gasket maker? Seems like the difference is in how much heat it can withstand, which wouldn’t be a factor for a yo-yo, but it would have a different texture, so I imagine there could be a difference.

Hi Dylan I am a beginner and I have mastered the basics I am planning to get a duncan metal racer which uses friction sticker so the grove is quite shallow so do yo think I can use this instead of the stickers?

Hello Dylan, I recently started playing with yoyos and came across your channel. Nice tips and specially nice review, as a beginner it was nice to find that I can get good metal yoyo for cheap, specially seeing how often I dinged the first one. That being said here is my question: I use a couple of magic yoyo (N8 and N9). Do you think it is worth removing the pads and putting silicone on it? Thanks in advance

Can I use clear 100% silicone?

You can also put in a bearing that you do not use and remove it after the silicon is dry, in this way the silicon cannot go on the bearing sit. Great suggestion btw

I thought you were suppose to leave the silicone set for 24 hours due to "curing"? Also what do you put at the end of the nozzle of the silicone tube cause I always have issues with the nozzle having dried silicone in it.

So, I got a problem... I did this, it came out great, nice and smooth, pretty even, cleaned out all the excess (a lot harder than you made it look lol) it was at night so I kind of left it next to the window until tomorrow when I could get it out in the sun and finish it up, it dried nicely and I touched it up a bit, I had to clean a bit more grit out of the bearing groove, and put it back together and it played nice. Then over the past few days, I noticed grit kept getting into the groove, luckily stayed out of the bearing itself, I thought it was odd but maybe I didn't get all the dust off the pad or something, but it kept happening, then I started noticing little holes in the pad, then when I was playing with it, I threw the yoyo and both sides of silicone break pads tore and half and hit my floor... Any idea what might have caused this? Did I do something wrong? This was just a few days after I made them. I'm using the Magic Yoyo N12 Shark's Honor, stock. I cleaned the bearing grove and break pad grove out with 99% isopropyl alcohol an hour or two before adding the silicone. The Gasket Maker I used is the exact same as you used in the video, same company and everything. it was super gooey though and almost impossible to get anywhere near as neat as you did, I had to do alot of rubbing and cleaning to make sure it was all ONLY in the break pad goove.
