At 14:43, I think that pulling the second VP card makes longest road your best win con. You’re even with orange on roads and have much better wood production, whereas you are behind red on knights with inferior OWS production. Odds of catching red for largest army seem very low, and if you invested those resources into roads and it plays out similarly then I think you win this one. I’m also prone to tunnel vision mistakes, and timer doesn’t help when things get rushed, thanks for the video!

I think you got too stuck on racing for army, which made you miss out on multiple settlement, city and road opportunities that could have got you the win.

man forgetting to drop the road was so hard to watch. shows that even someone as goated, handsome and built as Dylan can make mistakes like that

I feel like dropping roads and settlements is DyLighted's kryptonite. The man loves his d cards and cities. Edit: lol I didn't even realize it happened twice in this game. Edit 2: Ok, so DyLighted is the only player who has access to brick and wood, but refused to fight for roads until the very end when it didn't matter. I've never seen anyone so averse to expanding.

Hey I've watched many of your videos, you definitely taught me a lot, but throughout I kinda noticed that you tend to make road mistakes regularly, so I think it's probably a good angle to improve your play! Thanks for your work, it's fun and always interesting.

17:43 -- 7w/1s/3o + YoP = 2x road + settle to cut Orange's road and put yourself 1 road away from the win. You also gain a secondary Wheat and Sheep spot in the process.

Watched the first 4 minutes and it's done. Losing that road is just devastating

I watched both videos and had an insight, based on that advantage. If you had pointed right with your road on the initial settlement, you could have doubled the 9 ore, which would have created an entirely different dynamic in this game. I'm not saying it would alter the outcome, but it would have been very different.

At 9:35 why not road-road-settle on the 3:1 port on 10 wood? Alternative would be on the 4-3-11, or even just road-settle on the 4-3. Just buying one dev feels too weak in the long run, even if you are fighting for army. Was it a play to avoid getting permarobbed? Curious to know the rationale there.

I'm scratching my head at how you are playing this. Hunting Army, when you easily can take road 3x over and almost built to the win, leaving settlements and cities out there. Idk, feels like tunnelvision.

Why do you dislike settlements so much? You could have gone for the 3 4 11, up your sheep production and get some additional wood for the port

The pattern in these comments is that there should have been a lot more roads built with this setup. There are so many expansion spots and initial production has good wood/brick.

I think you were wrong to focus on getting knights here with the diversity of the ressources you had, could have locked more points with settles and roads on the way. You've used loads of ressources buying Ds that didn't help that much. This being said, love your videos, really good strategy and analysis of your games live which is super cool. Long time fan here but really tunnelvision hard on this one. Only think wood as porting materials and assume brick completely useless. I mean just road road settle, easy Win with 3 cities and 2 settlements and road. Or one less city needed depending on if you get VP early

You are good enough. You are almost too good at times the way you analyze the board. The timer is killer and really stretches brain power to analyze and make quick decisions.

@ 9:30 shouldn't u go for the ore port? U had 4 roads and black is left with strong ore position without a port

Why you didnt you create 3 roads at 4 3 11 towards black at 9:45? You could have a strong settlment there

I think you tunnel vision too much on one win condition. You say it's gross when you pull two vps, but's that's not bad. When that happens you need to switch your win condition to getting production. You get so many bricks and you says it's bad. Generally you should just use your cards in the way that's most efficient. Also tripling up on the 8 wood doesn't make much sense, it just makes it an easy block. Better to go for the 4 11 or 4 3 11. This vid was hard to watch, but keep your head up cause I know you're getting a lot of hate for this vid, so sry about that.

I think this game is plenty of mistakes, the first no road, the second no road to 9 12, the racing to army...really think u shouls got LR, even more when you get that 2VP. Also, is great to see some mistakes by a high level player, like videos like this but maybe with a little analysis at the end? GL for the Top!

Dylan is good at everything except time management. I hover in the top 1k range but I never feel time pressure. I wanna say it’s because Dylan talks while playing. Trying to be entertaining and play optimally can be hard I imagine

I think your total gameplan was just off. You did not need army at ALL. You could have won easily with road + settles and cities, maybe a vp. Wasted so many resources trying to get knights.

MISTAKE. I have really learned alot from you but for this game i think once you got 2vps you could have built cities instead of devs because 2 vps compensate for army points. plus cordinated 10s give you flexibility to also build a settlement instead of city. I think you would have gathered more points that way or also win according to the resources you were getting.

I don't get why lots of 'high-level' players have such an aversion to the road game (is it cause noobs make the mistake of over focusing on road so they do the opposite to not look like a noob?). If you're losing ore-wheat-sheep production then road and settle, but right from the start you committed to army and complained about getting brick. If you've got by far the best roadbuilding resources but don't take road you're missing out on 2 easy points and extra from settlements + board control.

Going back on a verbal deal is one thing, and I agree a part of the game that requires proper reading of the players But “reading the misclick” and trying to get a “misclick city” is, to me, similar to saying ‘I know the format we play in makes it possible for me to get a deal that the other player doesn’t actually consent to and I specifically want to get what I want out of that knowing they wouldn’t want that deal’ That seems shitty
