Using Rachmoninov's Second Symphony, we're going to take a look at how to play with color on the trumpet. We'll also discuss how to develop a more consistent dynamic range, so playing loudly has no force and playing softly isn't terrifying.

Love it. I would like a video on how to build endurance on long passages, when you have to play continuously for several pages worth of music with good sound.

Oh no-the hated long tones! I’m not even sure why I hate them. It’s not like they’re hard. Anyway lots of good stuff here. That alternating loud/soft LT’s is something I need to do.

Yeah, I can make boring stuff a little more tolerable to make small changes like that.

What are you alluding to in regard to the air "speed" comments? And that the air "speed" is the same for loud or soft notes? So, WHAT are you changing to increase the power input if you are insisting the "air speed" is constant? You give no instruction here on HOW or WHAT changes to achieve dynamics, or did I miss something?. Of course, most players easily and instinctively understand that blowing with more or less intensity (varying the air pressure by exhalation effort) achieves dynamics change. (And yes, the air flow AND relative flow velocity varies with dynamics as well) Also, yet what is this obsession with "air-speed" as an instructional term among brass teachers? How is the student expected to interpret this concept? Literally? or some unknown or mis-named conceptual definition such as "blowing" effort. Or air pressure or air flow. (BTW air flow is air flow, not air "volume", these are not the same thing but brass teachers habitual say air "volume" but intend to mean air "flow"). So, Air speed WHERE? How did you measure it? How does one generate it or control it? I know that air speed (if you mean air flow velocity) actually varies within the system depending on where you are considering it. So, in actuality there is no THE air speed (if you are actually referring to velocity of flow)
