Good serve although it's far away from 'around the net'

Let's call it "around the table". On another note, I thought a major component for this serve is for the body to turn more inward in order to give the ball its trajectory down the line. The starting position is the same as for a pendulum serve cross court. A sudden inward turn of the body before contacting the ball will disguise the actual direction to the very end. Correct?

I was under the assumption that the ball needs to be near vertical after leaving the palm, during the serve. It looks like this guy is throwing it up at a 45 degree angle.
