It's funny how the camera angle shifted so we couldn't see what he was up to for the first 30 seconds...

I agree, I think he was stood up with his legs slightly bent so the top of his head lay just below the surface of the dirt (which was dry and soft). Then, after a couple of minutes of holding his breath, he just straightened his legs to push himself up and out.

@jonmarx7882 no-one knows what happened other than the people there, the camera shifted so you could see how big the excavator was. The show was just to show him changing into the new him, who cares if he cheated? P.s. if he was trying to look cool, how did he know the right moment to come out the dirt? It would of looked more Impressive and added to the new him if he got out faster by cheating.

It's funny how you have no proof, it was symbolic and showed him changing to Steven frayne, and they had to move the cameras as a huge digger was coming towards them

The camera had to move for the digger, he was still buried alive either way, it wasn't like it was a suicide attempt. Of course the dirt is light and movable, the whole point was to escape. It doesnt matter if people think he cheated, it wasnt recorded to be hated on. Just watch it and dont try to disprove it.

If it was polystyrene it would be flying around all over the place - it’s light as a feather, and would also probably go up his nose and end up suffocating him. Soil is totally different. Drrrr!!!!!

Just before the dumper tips in the fake soil he stands up . Because of the camera angle you can't see this. The fake soil or top soil which is lighter (you can see it moving when he emerges) Great trick though.

He’s a lovely guy….but some of these “magic” tricks he did that were just fillers were so pathetic, it was just nothing but cheap writing by someone I don’t believe was him, like defending into a cafe floor and rising out of the ground in from of an obviously crap paid audience….like my mother was like “ooh ooh did you see that” I honestly had to look at her and say do you honestly believe a bunch of people are watching a man appear right out of the road standing upright in front of a group of people??? Plus before that you could see him crawl out of the door hidden (poorly) behind a man stood there in a trench coat by the door, most of these ‘magician tv shows are just pre paid audiences….I mean come on, I was stunned thousands of people even entertained the thought of that, people are brain dead now.

It wasn't done to look cool, it was what he did and went through. Who cares if it's fake? It wasn't for the audience to enjoy, it had a deeper meaning behind it. What did you expect to see, him come flying out with fireworks?

@@sb-sm8io whilst I understand he was doing it as a transformative process, I meant to say that I felt that the way it was filmed didn’t lend itself to any real dramatic tension. The camera pulled away far too quickly, as some have also mentioned, so we barely saw him being covered by the soil. So for all anyone knew, he could just be standing up waiting for enough time to pass before he “escapes” That was why I thought it was underwhelming
