so my boss has had this vacuum for at least 4yrs. He never keeps boxes or instructions for anything, so once the compartment filled up he never figured out how to simply empty it. He's since bought 3 other vacuums....Duh!! There's a vacuum graveyard down here. Recently, we started to throw out a bunch of stuff and I came across this Dyson once again. I told him I was going to throw it in the big dumpster at my apartment, before I threw it out I decided to check KZfaq to see if I could get it cleaned out. Low & behold I found this video & I now have a brand new 4yr old vacuum that was only used enough to fill the compartment once.....Thank U so Much!!

Have had the vacuum over 13 years, but haven't had a lot of use for it the last several. I went to clean it today and forgot how to open the canister! Super glad I watched this before I pulled the trigger and emptied the entire contents onto my kitchen floor.

I know this video is 4 years old but helped me a lot. Thank you! I just got one of those used and watched your video before taking it apart for cleaning it! Does anybody has an opinion on these units? It seems pretty solid but I have never used one before, bought it under the “never loses suction” promise! Thank you very much!

Thanks for your tutorials....Picked up the Dyson DC07 yesterday and it looked fine until I got home and noticed there was piece out of the grey collar (1/4in by 1/2) on the front of the cyclone..I can just see inside.....so I took the DC07 apart cleaned and wash everything including a filthy filter....I could see the date 11/15 written on the engine cover so most likely replaced...seemed there had been used cleaning something soggy as the dirt was hard to remove underneath...I used some industrial tape over the hole and switched it on.Wow..it went from average suction to full on....I vacuumed an area already done by my DC14 and the result was incredible...fine dust and debris filled about 1/5th of the barrel..stunning...will have to service theDC14 now using your method...thanks for your help mate....Cheers Gary..

No worries Gary, Glad it helped, Since I started doing this it is really gross how much dust gets left behind by most vacuums. Dysons were meant to be super but I don't know. Having cleaned quite a few of them there is always fine dust in them and sometimes they are completely blocked. the new ones are the same. The DC07 is a good machine.

I wouldn't recommend to wash cyclone in water as it's very difficult to remove water after that. I did it once but only 'coz it was donated filthy dyson and I needed a fresh start for it. It took 3 weeks in winter to rid of all water. Just shake it violently and you can here water flow inside and it doesn't go out . Used hair dryer, dried on rads as well. So if you want to try it, wait for hot summer and be patient. If you start using it with water inside, dust will be caked and filtraition deteriorated! For "my own dust" I prefer to use a garden vac to blow it out or just hoover. Btw strange enough but there is not any KZfaq videos where it's shown how to dismantle this cyclone completely. There are amother 3 screws down there. Presumably those parts are glued together but it would be interesting to check it. Just need a Dyson which is going to skip. Such a video will be very popular! Strange that ManchesterVacs guys didn't show it, they refurb hundreds of them.

We have one of these that is about 15 year old. We now have to use it with the tube, and a wide head as the bearings failed in the beater bar, and melted the housing. Luckily we have mostly hard floors now, so work quite well. I love the way you wash the filters and it goes back to being like new.

Holy Mother a God, Just tump it down with a hammer and screw it back together atall atall (if I can find the screws again) I used to Valet Ferraris and Rolls Royce till I found my groove with JCB's and old tractors. I bet this guy would love to work on the space shuttle or in the R and D dept. at Dyson looking at the longevity on new projects but hey he found all the screws again and scrubbed it to death in that wonderful old sink I mean what more do you want!!

Hi I hope you didn't take too much offence! it wasn't meant Just having worked with so many Southern Irish people they have a certainly different approach to solving particular work problems one particular instance comes to mind a Patrick Callahan from Canamara who had a way of looking at computer technology with a Lump hammer or sitting on them working out his betting for that day Tell you what! If any one Laks knowledge in maths spend a day with an Irish bloke particularly if Fairy house is on the go at 11/3 nobody has 11/3 bets do they???

Any tips on how to fix when ye rebuild it and didn't line up the metal rod? Now the trap door won't open... Oops 🙄
@yeehar99
@yeehar99 3 жыл бұрын
Having just cleaned and reassembled ours I think the following should work in your situation. Remove the three Torx screws from the top part and remove top with rod. Pass appropriate rod/prodder down body to activate catch and open bin. Remove bin. Locating that rod to the catch is a pain best attempted after a veterinary course (...or similar..rude comment removed!). This works for me... Hold the cyclone assembly in your non-dominant hand and the top (with rod) in the dominant hand. Orientate the two parts so that you're looking down on their "rootcyclone" and "dyson" logos (which should be in line with each other). Make sure that the screw receiving towers in the cyclone assembly are all inside (or heading inside) the top part. Place the index or middle finger (of your non-dominant hand) inside the cyclone assembly against the catch framework. This is to brace for whats to come. Use the other finger (middle or index) to guide the rod into place as you push the cyclone assembly and top part together.

If you vacuum whilst the cyclones are wet the dust will stick to them and make a bigger mess than original. Just unscrew the 3 screws from the top cover and it easily comes apart. 24hrs of air drying or drying somewhere warm will be fine

well all vacuums will lose vacuum if not properly taken care or using it for something its not designed for, i know some people use their home vacuum like a shop vac, picking up saw dust and big junk and wonder why their vacuum is broken

gee imagine someone normal without a vice grip trying to take that thing apart. worst designed vacuum i have ever seen for maintenance. my god buy anything but this over teched nightmare. i can see the design committee now,,,,make it more complex and more likely to break down and make it so you cant easily repair it without tools most normie people probably wont have.

The only tool you really need is for the screws. To remove the fins easier just push the perforated ring outwards while pulling on the fins. You’ll hear the slight pop as the fins move out of the groove.
