I'm Faren. I big chopped in April 2013. I have medium to low porosity hair, that is super dense at the crown. My haircare regimen includes washing my hair at least once a week, regular treatments (protein, olaplex and bond salve) and trims every 3 months on blown out hair. I am not a hair care professional, and I'm honestly still learning my hair.

Those of us with 4c hair don't have the energy for the dyson air straight! The revair takes so much stress away from me. I can section it, after detangling and pop it in and twist it back up. The dyson looks like I would have to do so much work and way smaller sections. Then it looks like I would have to use both hands and as we know with the revair we just hold it with one hand. It bulky, but who's using it more than one time a week? I think the dyson air straight is brilliant for looser hair types. I've seen some beautiful results.

My hair is so thick I usually don’t bother with straightening my hair . Because it will revert quick I leave straightening my hair to professional hairstylist Every now and then I blow dry it but it’s super rare for me. Love watching your videos and seeing your thoughts.

Now this is MY hair type. Girl, thanks for doing this. I have the Revair. Been using it regularly for 2 years now. I love it! I'm about to upgrade to the new model. I just saw this Dyson and thought hold up but i think I'll stick with Revair. I wasn't impressed when i tried the Dyson Corrale and Supersonic. I returned both. I like that this is not bulky like Revair but it looks like too much work and have to do smaller sections.

The issues I have with the RevAir are threefold. First, unlike the RevAir, I can use a traditional blow dryer for detangling . A comb attachment and/or paddle brush help to dry, fluff, and detangle my hair simultaneously. When in its natural state I only finger detangle my hair. So, if I’m going to straighten it, after washing, conditioning, and finger detangling, I will apply heat protectant, detangle with a wide-tooth comb, and more thoroughly detangle during the blow drying process. Secondly (and most importantly), while drying your roots with the RevAir, your already-dry ends are sitting in the hose, continuing to be exposed to heat unnecessarily. Sure, prolonged heat and vacuum tension help stretch your ends, but I prefer the option of applying heat where, when, and for how long I actually need to. Lastly, how do I keep it clean? Although freshly washed, my hair will contain some residual oils from conditioners and heat protectants. Eventually, product will begin to build up inside the RevAir hose. My hair is about three feet long. I can’t imagine being able to thoroughly clean and rinse the hose. If I were going to buy a blow-dryer substitute, it would probably be a Dyson AirStrait, which appears to more thoroughly dry and straighten the roots than the RevAir, or the Revlon Air Straight. 🥰

@@blueblue1508 I was getting fried ends by the time my roots were dry and wrote the company. They told me to put more hair in each section and slide the opening around gently against my scalp instead of pumping. That works for me. I do just 12 sections with 1 min per section, with chase method as I pull the hair out and it's not frazzled at the ends anymore. (also 4 suction and high heat)

I chase my RevAir with a comb or brush to not get the stiffness after pulling it off. I love my RevAir because I don’t wear my hair straight but I like to wear blowout styles

I have a Revair. I love It for my locs. When I saw the air straight I was thisclose to regretting it because you can’t really travel with the Revair. However your video solidifies a thought for me. Time. It already takes like 2 hours for me to dry my hair. Even adding 1 minute per section could quickly turn into three.

The problem with the Revair is that you can’t use any oils on your wet hair because oils destroy the Revair unit. I feel like the Dyson would be better to use with sealants and heat protectors whereas Revair is a non-starter for those of us who need to seal in moisture before doing a blow out.

@smwslam I'm sending my Rev Air back because my hair felt so brittle after using it. However, when I contacted customer service I was told oils can be used but not alot. But the directions do say no oils.

@N. Collins Supposedly you can use oils with the new models. When I first used Revair my hair was brittle and stiff too. Turns out I had too much buildup and was layering too many products before using. Less is way more with Revair. I use it with every wash now.

Wow! I’ve been using Revair for years. I’ve always used a little castor oil on the ends. Never had a problem with my unit. I’m a little concerned about the Dyson. I thought flat ironing wet hair was a big no no. I’ll wait a little longer to see long term results.

One thing to note is this has been amazing for me as someone with back issues. Glad I didn’t buy the RevAir, it’s too bulky and not mobility friendly. 100% satisfied with my Dyson purchase.

Peut-être que le Dyson est fait pour être utilisé par quelqu’un qui nous coiffe pendant qu’on fait autre chose? (Soirée entre copines à se coiffer, grande sœur qui nous fait les cheveux, etc). It's very lightweight! I watched a few Dyson videos before using the Airstrait and I didn't see anyone doing the chase method or creating tension. The tool does create tension, in my opinion, but I may try it next time I use it! Thanks

I thought the Dyson would have gotten your hair much sleeker and I'm glad you shared your experience because this could easily be a purchase made because of the hype. I'm all for experiencing things for yourself to see how it works for you but with an investment like this one, I would really need to want it. The RevAir in my opinion worked better and faster but it seems to me a hand dryer works fine lol.

I had the same results as you with the Dyson making my hair feel stiff. But another youtuber said to put it on boost once it’s dry. Her hair seemed to be silkier after she did that. I am going to try it again this weekend to see if that fixes the crunchy feeling that I got.

Interesting since I have the Dyson regular blow dryer and have always ALWAYS felt it leaves my hair slightly crunchy, even when dried by a professional hairdresser who uses a Dyson. Thanks for sharing that piece since I need to seriously consider that when purchasing this new one. ❤

@@treasurechest123 That why I sent back the other Dyson blow dryer because it made my hair feel dry, crunchy and stuck together. I am hoping I can get the airstrait to work because the RevAir is a pain due to the size. However, I may just have to deal with it if this Dyson doesn’t work. The RevAir is the only hair dryer so far that doesn’t make my hair feel crunchy and stuck together.

Hmm.. They say it's for all hair types, but I don't believe it. For the price, it should have produced better results. You can get better and faster results with a traditional blow dryer with a comb attachment.

In your tipe of hair it wiuld be better the GHD duet style because it uses a warm plates in adition to the air. I think you reaced best style with the ghd

Well you just saved me some time and money. Gonna pass on this one. I like my revair. I also notice it can over dry if I'm not careful. I do only 60-65 seconds per section and only 12 sections on my entire dense head of hair. Plus suction only 4 and high heat. I'm actually going to experiment next time with only doing more like 45 seconds, then following up with a paddle brush and regular blow dryer to smooth and finish drying the already stretched hair after the revair.

I’m so glad! Soooo many of my friends love the revair and use it in soooo many different ways. I never thought of doing the chase method with a paddle brush. How long does it take you to dry your entire head with the revair?

@@HeyKnottyGirl Getting it fully dry, about 20 mins. This revised method may add another 5-10 mins, but will hopefully give a smooth enough effect I don't feel the need to flat iron for the styles I want. We'll see!

You can use the Dyson on dry hair as well you just don’t need to blow dry it

Your Supersonic goes to 302 on the highest setting. So the Airstrait is applying less heat... no need to worry.

It left your roots untouched as there’s no heat hitting them. That being said, it wouldn’t make the hair lay straight and it looks weird

It’s not a flat iron it’s a dryer and straightener without the plates of a flat iron you can accomplish the straight you need you to a demonstration first

DO NOT order this from Dyson. It has been a shipping nightmare. They had the wrong address on my shipping, when I called 3 minutes after I placed the order they said they fixed it- they did not. They missed the delivery date and cannot tell me where it will ship to, just a “UPS location” that I have to pick it up at. They refuse to cancel the order and refund my money even though it is just sitting in their warehouse as UPS never picked it up to ship it to said unknown location. Their customer service is terrible. I just want my $550 back but they won’t until it is returned via UPS, but it’s in their warehouse RIGHT now.

Lol… having similar issues and SO SO FRUSTRATED!!!!! Been going back and forth with Dyson for three weeks. They kept making up excuses about why I wasn’t getting a tracking order. Finally I told someone that what I was hearing didn’t make sense and I wanted to hear the truth and they said they were just out of stock and that it’d be probably two weeks.

That tool doesn't really seem worth it. You have to do all of that and still flat iron and/or curl the hair

Hair is too dry, it needs to be almost wet or the heat cannot process the straightening. Plus use a comb to guide it.

The point of the Air Strait is to use it on wet hair after washing. If you decide to use it on unwashed dry hair, you chose the 'dry' setting. It is that simple. Might be interesting to do another demo on wet hair :-)

My hair was wet. You may have skipped over it but during the demo I sprayed my hair using my spray bottle before I straightened it. Thanks though!

I dont think Dyson and other one worked for you, yes it is not as puffy as your normal hair but it is not straight . I have curly hair too I will not buy this one. maybe other one with big brushes could work better?? thanks for the video.

Try again without so much product, that’s why it’s soooo stiff and your sections was too big in the back for sure that’s why it’s inconsistent …. you only need heat protectant. Also try braiding it for a few hours to air dry

Not sure which tool you’re talking about but I have to to use more than heat protectant on my hair. I had my hair in 4 large sections but I parted them into at least 4 smaller sections to straighten my hair with the Airstrait. Your hair is supposed to be wet when using both tools, according to their instructions. But I really appreciate you watching and commenting! 💛

This is not for African-American type hair, It looks like a blow dry. I’ve seen the reviews with other people talking about their hair is natural, but it is more like Mexican hair. Y’all always try to talk about ain’t no such thing as black hair, but you guys know what I mean!
