Yes color is a must have for writing . Integration of recordings is must in a writing platform . Smooth zooming . Smooth page scrolling is must . High pixel density . Preferable no ghosting . All those are not included in remarkable 2 ..😢

I have an iPad M2 12.9" and I just got a Scribe. On iPad was always getting eye strain, sleepy and distracted on the iPad when trying to read. Also ordered books and never finished reading because of this. On the Scribe it's a pleasure to read! Especially for what I read- business, technology and trading. All my reading is for learning. Scribe is the perfect size that resembles a book size so the diagrams and text are as the author intended.

I needed a e-Ink tablet because of m university researcher job and I needed it now (end of August 2023): I wasn't aware of the new Supernote coming and I've bought a Supernote A5X. I can't be happier: it's the perfect device for me. The SN A5X 2 will be improved for sure. Well, I honestly don't mind. I've tried a Remarkable 1 and it wasn't the good tool that I needed for reading and annotating academic PDF, writing and link my texts to the PDFs. My two cents. P.S. In another life Kit you must have been an anlytical philosopher: your argomentations is worth an accurate philosopher (it's a compliment for me).

I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum from Brandon on the SN--I think it feels like writing with a ballpoint on a legal pad. I love it. Pair that with all the other great stuff he said about the team, the upgrades, the capabilities of the Supernote, and for me it's the perfect device. I've had mine for a good while now, and it just keeps getting better.

I think the Heart of Metal stylus is too hard. I find that the staedtler digital stylus is far better, as it has a softer tip. If you put a rubber pencil grip on the staedtler, it's ideal as a stylus.

Tab X in color. One reader to rule them all. We want it, we need it, we demand it! I will buy it immediately upon release without hesitation no matter the cost.

The bright whites on b&w are much better than the greyish whites on color e-ink. I find b&w even easier on the eyes than color

The Lenovo Thinkbook Plus Gen 4 is quite good. I own one. It runs Windows 11 Pro for the E-Ink screen, which is the largest color E-ink screen on the market as of now. (Until Bigme release the 25.3 inch in January).

Hey Kit! I have never owned an e-ink device and i'm seriously considering it now that i have the budget for one. I'm a Medicine university student and i'll primarily be using the device for Pdf reading, annotating and notes. I'm using my laptop for e-mail/ essay writing so the keyboard case is not something i'll be using at all. The TUC appeals to me because of the screen split note taking, colour for my anatomy and charts, recording for lectures, and browser access for the university websites. I have seen many reviews from you and voja comparing devices and if i just wanted something to replace my note taking i would go for the Supernote. So my question is which device do you recommend ? should i go for TUC, NA2+, Supernote a5x, or wait for a new boox device, like a Tab X Colour?

So I been looking at these for about a month. I’m a signage structural designer so I’m always jotting down a number or sketching out something in a meeting. Just tired of keeping up with notebooks and paper. Also I been enjoying reading on my kindle basic but it’s small. I love these videos, but still having a hard time figuring out which one to choose.

RM 2 and Scribe good choices. I think Scribe is better bang for the buck. If you can get to a store that lets you try them out, it is probably a good idea for you. Also, check the return policies.

Looking for a writing tablet to keep notes for work, for classes I take and being able to back them up to onedrive or google drive as a document (word). I also want something to take notes on class books, highlight books, and get to course books. I can't get to all course books on my kindle. And something that is good for a lefty.

so if I like to write with pencil, fountain pen, or rollerball.... not ball point... would the remarkable or supernote be better? Does everyone sy ballpoint just to reference pen, or does it specifically feel only like ball point? the tactile feel will be really important for me too. I like the super basic aspects of remarkable but I like the way the supernote converts handwriting to text better.

What if you design games/instructions, so need a Notebook that lets you write out ideas, but also cut/paste typed text, art/pictures/photos & insert diagrams/grids and text into the notes. Create chapter's, headings, keywords, separate into double columns and a table of contents. Links to create an index? Searchable writing and text? Swap between gridded or dot grid templates on some pages, but not others. link between notebooks. Bookmark specific sections. Maybe pop-up notes about your thoughts on a paragraph, without writing on that paragraph, like a separate post it note for specific sections to hold thoughts on changes, without marking up the current finished paragraph to be changed? Also easily export it out to PC in converted text to work on layout & design. Ah and also hold a lot of other PDFs (many with DRM) that I can flip back and forth with quickly to reference, annotate etc..?

I have a Galy. While some of the color rendering was definitely off, ultimately it was the size of the screen that made it a "no go" at the end of the day. I just wasn't able to read my technical documents the way I wanted to as the tables were too small. Colors were good and yes the speed was slow, but I was ok with that. Build quality of the device is good. Battery length sucks.

I'm very close to making a decision to get the Supernote A5x, partly because I've heard so many people praising the writing experience. So I hope I don't turn out to be like Brandon. :) One thing to confuse matters even more is that Ratta has recently upgraded the screen cover for the A5x to the feelwrite 2, and that may add a little texture to its traditional pen on paper feel.

I personally love the writing feel on the gen one screen. I'm expecting the second gen to be even nicer! it's a shame that there isn't a way you can try out devices in store to see which you prefer as it's such a personal thing!

I ordered a Boox (NA2+) and a Supernote at the same time. It only took a few days using both to tell me I'm a Supernote user for life. I could not stand the Boox experience, but I'm sure other use cases would be better suited to it. Supernote has put out so many useful updates and I look forward to further updates as they start to develop new software for their new devices. I think A5X will benefit just as much as the new ones - something you couldn't say with Boox devices this far into their run!

I use my iPad Pro (2018) with magic keyboard every day. If I could only have one device, that would be it. The only downside is having to charge once a day. I got into E-ink because I have to walk around and take notes at work. Pad and paper works fine if I am willing to scan the notes into my iPad, where I store all of my notes in Apple Notes. I have used Remarkable 2 and Scribe for some months now and like each of them for note taking. Their long battery lives is particularly pleasing. RM is still ahead on software, but Kindle has caught up quite a bit. If I had to choose one it would be Scribe due to the front lighting and its overall build. If I had to pick one, it would be Scribe. By the way, a paper and pen or pencil is still an option if you are willing to scan on a regular basis.

Thanks, great reviews and fun to listen. I am looking for an e-ink which would be A4 size, can handle reading and editing of text (pdfs & word), could translate hand drawn models into neat computer models (i.e. circles becoming circles etc without needing one to re-draw the picture) and could handle note taking and hand drawing. In addition, taking the stuff out should be smooth. What device would you suggest for this? What would it do suberb, and what would it do less good? Would be great to hear you take on this!

I definitely need another roundtable discussion with you all. Its been a ehile and there havent been any real new devices (aside the A6X2 which you all seem to love) so i would love a casual chat about which devices you are gravitating toward on the daily. Which ones you just genuinely prefer using and why? But also maybe, have you discovered tricks, hacks, or programs that have truly improved your experience on any of the devices? I just need more. LOL

I’m in graduate school, and read a lot of articles, text books various platforms e.g. kindle, chegg, etc. and a lot psychological papers. I have a Microsoft studio Pro laptop currently. I have never used an e ink tablet. The surface studio pro works well but it does feel like writing on piece of glass. Q 1) will having a e ink tablet be a game changer for me with the amount of notes I’m taking ? Q 2) would you recommend the boox ultra c or the boox tab x ? Thanks for all the content !

Yes, it will change the game for you. The surface will always feel like you are holding a PC... because you are. Whereas the Tab X will feel like you are holding a notebook, it will become a place that you love writing in and be a real pleasure to use every day. I would lean towards the bigger size for reading your academic literature.

Hiya, I think it only links to Bluetooth speakers and headphones. Is that what you're trying to do? You can export your annotations, including any text you highlight as a document and send to yourself yes.

Im probably Brandon team, but I bought kindle scribe. Since than I regret my decision (sorta). On the other hand Im afraid to try RM2 because the display is going to be a downgrade, less pixel density, no backlight and no kindle books, although I have paperwhite and reading on scribe is kinda pain in the ass - the device is too large and heavy to read in bed. RM2 really got me on their design which I love and it seems it has better folder structure and better tools. Its a shame I cant try it somewhere to compare.

I am on the same position. I feel the RM would fit better, but missing the light and PPI is a big one. So, for now I hold on the Scribe hoping for a RM3 that brings those 2 things. If that comes up I will jump immediately. The Scribe screen is great, but I end up picking my Voyage for reading.

@@josegoncalvesdias3242 So I bought the RM2, I was really impressed the first week or so it just made sense. The device is design wise is on different level. Software wise, the ghosting is much more noticeable on RM2 (slower refreshing), but otherwise I like it overal. I didnt bought the PEN, but returned the orginal folio, Im left handed and I didnt want to lay my hand on the folio which costs a half of RM2 (crazy). Im using the scribe pen. I kinda prefer the output of scribe writing, it always deliver the same result, and it seems the handwriting looks better on scribe. To be fair Im not using the orginal pen on RM2 so that might be a problem, on the other hand the RM2 sketching is much better, the results looks more artsy / technical than on scribe. RM2 has a huge problem with magnetization of the device, it results with imprecision of pen. if you want to write something in your bed and you dont have a overhead lamp, you really going to prefer the scribe display though. gotta say RM2 gives you a feeling of being too careful about the device it looks too precious. Scribe seems like it can handle more rough handling.

The business philosophy behind Supernote doesn't get mentioned, but it's a big reason why it leads in my attention. FWIW I'm an ecological landscape designer. Sketching on site is a constant part of the job. The only thing holding me back from dropping $ on SN is lack of color...

I own a Boox Note Air 2, but wouldn't recommend it. The note taking part has its own UI, which is usable, not very intuitive. The library on the other hand, has a complete different one. I really can´t get used to it.

No, Voja is talking about a remarkable 1. Cheapest eink I would recommend is probably a referbished Kindle.

I like TU better than TUC because of the screen. TUC is too dark and messy colors. TU is much cleaner for me. Dont need to use that much artificial lighting!!!

@@KitBetts-Masters I bought it used for 230€ because it seemed like a good deal and I like the having a pdf or a powerpoint presentation open on one screen and taking notes on another, but primarily, I wanted a cheap way to read PDFs. The problem is its horrible battery life. This device is now 4 or 5 years old and it shows. I ran made a test running a youtube video and it only lasted 1,5 hours. It is a Windows 10 device, which I don't mind given the productivity tools available on Windows are much better than on Android, but in this case I think the power consumption hit is too much. I've read that when these were new, they could barely last for 5 hours in the desktop mode and only 13 hours in the e-ink mode. I've yet to test how long it lasts in the e-ink mode only. I've found a replacement battery for only 30€ on the internet, but I've no idea how to open this thing or if it's even possible. Unlike a conventional laptop it has no "gaps", both parts of the body are made of single pieces with the screens presumably glued on.

@@KitBetts-Masters I will go with the Remarkable for study, annotating, academic research/reading, and just make a few accessories upgrades to my laptop workstation. I exclusively use Microsoft OneNote since the app was launched and have too many OneNote notebooks and content in it to want to change to some other application. OneNote is my perfect notetaking application that meets all my note taking needs. I make handwritten annotations and notes using my wacom intuos S tablet into my laptop. I do want portability now, for notes, so I can make notes at demand, instead of going to my workstation, because my laptop functions as a desktop and not a portable device. I can import my notes from the Remarkable, into Onenote and that is not too big of an issue. What is problematic though is when creative ideas pop into the mind in the middle of the night and I quickly want to write something down before I forget it. Its impractical to have to recapture paper notes. The Remarkable will solve this issue.I decided on this because ultimately 1. ultimately: the price point that includes the keyboard. 2. I mostly use .pdf with reading, and dont need other book formats. 3. I dont want android, because then my device will quickly get outdated and then almost unusable with all the frequent android updates (this happened with a 10" samsung tablet that runs android on older android version no longer compatible). most manufacturers only support 3 android updates - so I wont be able to use my device effectively after 5 years anymore. I prefer to buy the best I can at budget prices and just do minor upgrades to devices to make them usable fine for my needs with devices lasting in excellent condition up to 8 years to get the most value out of all my various devices.. When considering you have smart watches, smart phones, laptops and then also a note taking/e reading device, I'm not fond of replacing all these devices on a regular basis every 2-3 years.
