Wild Touring

3 жыл бұрын

This episode we tow the van down the Tanami Track to check out Wolfe Creek Meteorite Crater - the 880m wide impact crater is the second biggest in the world!
From there we head West along the black top towards Broome, stopping at a few interesting points of interest and find a couple of great free camps. Once in Broome we day trip out to Cape Leveque to see what we missed the last time!
Next week we are heading south along the Kimberley Coast from Broome and camping on some amazing Stations!
Cheers guys!
Cam, Tiff and Chloe.

Lovin the format of the show, I like your little camp cook segment in each episode, well each episode but 11 that is, your slipping😏. I want to start doing a channel similar but focusing more on the caravan/camp cooking and showing the different ways we are set up to cook/bbq/smoke foods. I think we have most of the cameras that we need, ie GoPro, drone, SLR, phone of course and the new MacBook Pro to edit on once I learn how to drive it.

We have stayed a Lake Ellendale a couple times the cows were dropping their calves around the place. And the cows love Toast, second time we stayed there the cowboys came thru and said the herds coming thru, might be a good time to leave or get very dusty we left. And there is a couple of freshie crocs in there not a good idea to swim as it’s very boggy eg cows. But watching the pelicans fly in and fly out across the surface of the lake in the dusk was awesome .

Yet again compelling viewing. “Not gonna lie” “I must say” I’m looking forward to your next lot of information of what gear is working for you guys and what other stuff you’ve seen used by others that would make a difference when touring. I saw a shovel and recovery planks getting the thumbs up in this episode, along with a rice cooker, microwave, coffee pot, and Wikicamps Australia. I can’t believe you didn’t opt for the Emu Export homing-drone with upgraded GFM (gross flying mass) instead of that woefully inadequate awesome-video-only unit you did take - rookie mistake. Can’t believe that cow didn’t head-butt you or at least sneeze on you for failing to deliver the treats others have obviously been trading for friendly interaction. Personally I like the idea of interacting with cattle and horses more than crocs, snakes, goannas and other equally inhospitable native specimens but I still treat livestock with great caution.

i see you let your tyres down quite a bit, on your trips , and i understand the reason, but i have been 4 wheeling since 1970 and have never had reason to do so ,on bad times getting bogged was in mud/ black soil and letting tyres down would not have helped , even though i have front / rear lockers did not help . So do you think it is worth the time / effort to be dropping tyre pressure when driving the beach/ bush tracks/gravel rds
@WildTouring
@WildTouring 3 жыл бұрын
Dave I've got absolutely no doubt in my mind that dropping some tyre pressure reduces your likelihood of getting bogged (by increasing the size of the tyre footprint it helps you float over the soft stuff rather than ploughing thought it), reduces the chance of tyre and vehicle damage (softer side walls act as shock absorbers) and reduces the damage you do to tracks (larger footprint means more traction and less wheel spin). There has been dozens of times I've been struggling on soft sand and by simply dropping a few more PSI its made it significantly easier going.
