In June 2015, Square Enix and Sony took everyone by surprise with the reveal of the Remake of Final Fantasy VII!
In a stadium filled with thousands of journalists, developers and fans, they dropped the massive news on the incredulous crowd... It took 30 seconds for the crowd to realise that it was actually true and everybody went crazy!
Watch this video I took from one of the first rows to experience again this goosebumps moment!

Nah that reaction hype when the screen pops up that 'remake' we've seen movies and tech demos and side games half a dozen times. Everyone was still kind of expecting that, until remake flashed on the screen. That was the moment.

What was even better was they showed a Final Fantasy chibi like game before this lol so it dropped everybody's hopes down then this comes up and just gave everyone a kick to the head. They planned this and it was well played.

Probably some underwhelming Xbox announcement like State of Decay 2 being a "big reveal" fanboys has been horsebacking on since the announcement - until the buggy mess was released. Clearly no other games than FFVII remake had 10 years of teasing and anticipation, "fake offs"(meaning fake reveal as FFVII tech demo for PS3 and PS1 game on PS4) with absolutely no leaks prior to it's announcement.

When I saw this trailer I was ecstatic... but then Shenmue 3 got shown and I was in shock (lol)... I personally preferred FF8 over FF7 but preferred Shenmue over both, so that's why it wins for me. Unbelievable conference that year, and after those games were shows I was expecting HL3... lol.

I’ll always remember the reaction video where the one dude is just sayin “Please don’t be a movie, please don’t be a movie…” and then flips when “Remake” pops up. I hadn’t seen that much energy surrounding am announcement since Twilight Princess. Resident Evil 2 came really close too.

Many won't understand what this meant, and for the lucky ones that did, this was one of the greats in gaming. Many people all ages, specially people that played this as kids and now grown people. For each the original came at different important point in their lives. For me it was a great rememberance of time spent with my brother as we both played our first RPG ever and our minds were simply blown away. So I cannot listen to FF prelude theme without shedding a tear.

Going back and watching this, pretty much 3 years later....even with all the controversy surrounding the development..I still get goose bumps. This was completely unexpected. Maybe some people knew it was coming but I sure as hell didn't. I knew what it was from 0:20 onwards into the trailer. It looked awfully familar to Advent Children's portrayal of Midgar. Then the next shot with the girl at the sector 6 playground really drove me up the wall. Probably the biggest gaming-related announcement/reveal I've seen in my lifetime. Now that Square has taken production fully in-house, I have a lot of hope and expectations for this. Whenever it gets here. I'm hoping it's within the next couple of years...but we'll have to wait and see. When this game releases, it's gonna break the internet and the gaming industry lol. I mean this is a once in a generation type of game release.

One year later, still the same feeling. Whenever I get back to watch this trailer, my heart is melting again by hearing those reactions, because those are genuine, full of joy, a fragment of remembrance that stood in the heart for 20 years. This game is what actually gave life to the Playstation era. We were all little children, barely understood the story back then, but we knew it has something magical inside, and gave us another meaning to life.

i didn't realize that that the title remake had more than one meaning until years later and this is my second time playing threw the game i like the story in the game and the new things they added. i like the fact that it is not a one to one remake and that they are changing some things. SPOILER i like that part one was an expanded midgar. based on what they showed before the game released i had a feeling that might have bean the case and i was right.i did not say it but i sure thought it.

From what I've gathered, they actually foreshadow the divergences and plot differences between what we now know as the "Re trilogy" and VII classic: "It may bring joy, it may bring fear, but let us embrace whatever it brings". They knew damn well about the plot changes and decided to explicitly mention that fans will be divided. Now that's balls.
