E60 M5 Rod Bearings in 15 Minutes & How to set the VANOS backlash!

Finally the rod bearings on my E60 M5 have been done. If you have ever wanted to know what the job entails this video includes a 15 minute Timelapse of the entire job from start to finish.

2:03 Remove air boxes, radiator cover and hood latches

3:09 Disconnect lower suspension arms
3:41 Install engine support & loosen engine mounts
4:10 Remove subframe
4:59 Oil pan removal (so much to remove!)
6:15 Remove low pressure oil pump

7:13 Replace rod bearings (conrod)

Very nice job mate. I did the same on my '06 (Silbergrau) back in 2018 on my 4-post hoist, and with all the other 'while you're there' tasks. Glad it's all done now, and hoping it doesn't see enough KLMs to need it done again lol. Seeya!

Thanks! KC, KS. The bearings had right about 91K on them. Close to 3k on the new ones and so far so good!

ON THE BEARINGS DID YOU GO OEM OR AFTERMARKET ?

I went with OEM. These were the original uncoated bearings as far as I could tell. I wanted to see how well the newer ones would work.
