I had an album called Hendrix In The West when I was a boy back in the 70's. This song was on that album. I played it to death. I went in the army and never have been able to find this album again.

When jimi plays the idea just flows properly,no practicing for hours beforehand, then on to the next idea that suits, his fingers just correspond to that, amazing to watch that facility

Jimi played 2 shows at Berkeley University on May 30, 1970. My parents were students at Berkeley at the time, and they went to the afternoon show and the evening show. My father had seen Jimi 6 times, and both my parents were at Woodstock. Jimi was always great live, but since both of the shows on May 30 were being filmed, he really went all out. He did have a psychedelic light show, but otherwise he didn’t have a fancy stage show, but when you’re as talented as he was you don’t need an impressive stage show.

Yep, hendrix like all bands back then traveled pretty light on tour, the venue provided the lights, and usually the PA, according to Abe Jacob's, the sound guy, all they took was amps, a few guitars, a big box of pedals, cables, and what not, drums and 8 microphones.

It’s on the same level as anything EVH did some 7 years later. Sonically and energetically. Jimi transcended guitar playing, it was its own art form.

"Jimi created modern electric guitar playing...there are only two eras in guitar playing, pre-Hendrix and post-Hendrix." - Yngwie Malmsteen He was probably the best pure musician that rock music has ever produced.

@@themotobanditshow cheers, brother, this is blood, life for me too. There used to be a cut of Hendrix and the Beatles jamming 'Day Tripper' too that a friend first played for me in '82, off a Lennon bootleg titled 'The guitar's alright, John, but you'll never earn your living by it'(!), a quote from Aunt Mimi. Sounds to me like Jimi, Mitch, Paul and John. As Jimi launches into the solo, John says, "Oh, Mumsy(John's pet name for Mimi), can you hear me now?" Hasn't been there last few times I looked. 😥 🖖😘🎶🎸💞💥🌈🌉

Dude, you obviously don't know history. Playing the guitar behind the head, back and between the legs, even playing it with the teeth was expected on the chitlin circuit. And hendrix was on the chitlin circuit in the early 60s. T Bone Walker was doing all that in the 1940s. Charley Patton was known to throw the guitar up in the air while playing as far back as the 1920s. The only new thing hendrix did as part of his stage act was set a guitar on fire. He only did that twice.
