I haven’t touched a golf game since Hot Shots Golf 2 on the PS1 but I’ve really had the itch to pick one up lately.

The first thing that I do when I get a new game is go into the settings menu and see what I can fiddle with. Most games allow you to adjust things such as how fast or slow things are….Make the adjustments.

The one thing I will say, complaining about the swing being slow really doesn't make much sense. If you look at a lot of pro golfers they have slow swings, I used to have a fast swing and I could never get good contact on the ball. I watched a lot of videos of people saying slowing down your swing can help with contact, they showed a comparison of golfers swings when they first became a pro vs their present swing and a lot of them had slower swings. So I incorporated what I seen in the videos and it helped me out a lot, so having a slow swing kind of points to the realism in the game.

I appreciate the review and what you’re saying.. the only thing I would say is that EA and 2k sports are businesses that want as much money as possible these guys aren’t making games for our fun as a priority over that aspect.. so as consumers we have to stop spending on games that take months after launch to be finished so that they’re forced into releasing a game that is polished at launch. We spend full price for a half priced product at launch. These companies are really preying on the younger generation that never truly saw how games used to launch completed.. maybe that’s because of the live service aspect and the ability to update these games but the concept of paying for unfinished products just seems bizarre to me all together. Just my take on everything.

Great video, I,ve played golf games since games consoles started. Two different games. I’m leaning to EA. I Love what 2K and the golf club have done, I just find it too difficult. I getting old and my brain doesn’t work as fast as you young guns! We play golf, golf games because we love golf. We are a golf family. Stay happy golfers love you all. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I enjoy simulation style games but man looking forward to the arcadey/realistic rpg character progression stuff in this. I spent hundreds of hours into the old ea Tiger woods golf games grinding up my character and playing with friends, can’t wait to play this one. I have 2k pga for simulation needs but I’ll be focusing on this one more. 30 courses, lots of gear and clothing, rpg type progression.. the only bummer is 30 fps on console- they really need to patch that

I could not agree more. I have both and so far 2k has a more arcade like feel. That might make people mad. Its really deep underneath but compared to ea its a big difference in mechanics. I feel like EA put so many different options for how to approach a course because ball spin curve the wind. I just feel like once you get a small grip and start leveling up even if you suck at the game like me you start implementing new strategies. Currently im working on putting because i suck at that really bad in all golf games but theres a definite learning curve on both games and I feel like EA is more immersive. The presentation just pops compared to 2k. You can put tiger and michael in a game but if you put them in a game with two year old mechanics its the same game.....like what changed from 2k21? i never played that one but it almost looks too similar. Like 2k is making budget games like they used to but charging 60 bucks? idk its a deep game but when i get on the course EA feels really crisp and sucks me in. Ive also never played golf in my entire life.

EA is much harder then 2K , in EA the grind is harder to build up your player. There should be vidz for EA on how to win challenges, coaching etc. With EA I play 3 click, 2k I play swing. Now that I have my player built up to 40 so far the game is now fun to play. But it was a grind I was frustrated with my player not making shots. I've yet to win a tourney in career mode but I'm not too far off I usually finish in the top 5 just want to max out the built of my player before I go online to play in EA.

What am I missing about your tempo that myself and many of us are dealing with the slow swing on either takeaway or follow through? I've attempted both faster tempo and slower tempo, but I can't seem to flip the stick fast enough for it to be registered as anything other than slow and ~ -2ish %. Any tips would be appreciated.

Anyone know how to set it up so 2 players can play casual together..same house..two controllers...but one player using left stick to swing and the other using right stick to swing. It keeps changing both players when you change it in the player profile. So far I'm not impressed.

Bought the ps5 version today. Like the swing mechanics. Put the game on the recommended pro difficulty. Did the first 10 coach challenges. Those were very easy. Started a career on the amateur tour. First tournament didn’t make the cut with +10. Second the same. Teeing off goes pretty ok, but approaches are terrible. That ball keeps rolling off the greens left and right. Also find it very hard to do anything but full swings? Putting is different as well. I’m Missing a tutorial, why isn’t there any? Gonna need all the help i can get. Will be following your channel. Any tips?

How the putting is so hard but I’ve been looking at your videos and others it getting better

First, I do love the game. I really do. I've been playing every golf game since TW8. But there are 3.5 things that I ... have issues with. 1) The balls roll like marbles on glass. They just roll forever! 2) There is input delay for the swing (PS5). But I admit that it's so smooth and consistent that I'm not certain if it's actually intentional or not. Basically I pull back and it takes about a full second before the golfer begins to move. But it also mean that I have to start the forward motion before the golfer reaches the desired point in the arc because it's that same delay. 3) Putting. It's challenging, sure. That's not the issue. The issue is that it is inconsistent as hell! Same distance, same elevation (or lack there of), same line-speeds (for breaks) can produce RADICALLY different results. Maybe the ball will break this time. Maybe it won't. Maybe it will be rolling to the hole (with the same consistent break lines) and then suddenly turn 30 degrees like it hit a pebble. I've actually seen the ball move in a gradual arc *against* the break! And no, it was a good hit. And my ".5" - OMG I hope those player-golfer faces are a first pass lol. For mine, after 3 scrolls through each option, I had to choose the least of the bad options hehe.

I want to get a golf game. Just feel like playing some golf. Both sounds like a good idea haha.

This game is more fun, best ever grafX, hey I'm on ps5 got the deluxe pga golf, how do you get the Augusta bag and deluxe bag? I did get 1500 coins. I'm missing stuff unless we get them when game comes out later on 2day. Thanks

All I wanna know is what is the deal with the line of buttons down in the bottom left of EAs game? Looks like an absolute nightmare just buttons everywhere and does the game even take the time to explain what those buttons are for or what they even do?

The graphics, announcers, and overall presentation are fantastic on ea pga. The gameplay is fun! I still like pga2k23 and will play that a lot too. Glad to have multiple options. This will make 2k step up their presentation on their next game and offer more.

I can't play it until button input is added. Sticks were not made to handle precise input like swinging in games like this and they all begin to drift within a short period of time. They are simply not consistent enough for any competitive play.

I can’t keep pace with online scores so EA PGA is perfect for me. The Career, shot types, physics, graphics have really impressed me. You want an arcade way of playing? You got it. You want a realistic golf experience you got that too. I do wish the character creator was better. I love having the real Augusta and others. I can’t stop playing it.

Great video. I tried to give EA it on the shop but the mechanics in the body mechanics or just horrible. My ball was going another 20 yards in the rough. Something I’m just not used to in 2K your ball goes in the rough it slows down dramatically as it should in real life. Plus, I honestly don’t think the graphic are better. The garage and EA looks horrible.

Is the 2k23 for Xbox one game vs the 2k23 game for Xbox x better in graphics quality or are they the same game??? I have 2k23 for Xbox 1 and just got an Xbox x. Will I need to buy the Xbox x game now?? Or is the Xbox 1 game gonna play the same on an Xbox x console?

Nice review, but you have to understand the reason for the question…investment of time + fun = repeat playability, this is why fans of the game of golf want to know which is best, because let’s face it we all need to be on a real course getting our real game better LOL…good review I did need to hear that

The game is super cool. Definitely different from 2K23. Will I play 2K23 still? Sure. It's still way fun and competitive. But EA has some really cool features and makes the grind fun. Can't wait to see what you figure out on what in your opinion are some of the best settings and why. I always like those types of videos to help me out. I like exploring all the new stuff. I think the courses in EA Sports PGA Tour look much better than courses in 2K23. I also like the mechanics more in EA PGA Tour.

Which ones got better career mode? I want a nba 2k type career mode where i can actually make my guy better

Does anyone play with a controller in EA 23? I feel let down...I was hoping ea would have the mouse sure swing like TW '08. 3 Click is ok but boring to me. I have both 2K21 & 23 and I really like the mouse swing technology in those but don't like the circle that goes with it (any way to make the circle go away?)

I agree it is better, I went back on 2k23 last night and the swing was so fast, obviously the presentation isn't as good either. Now I have got used to the swing mechanics I prefer this, feels more realistic too

Great review. I’ve always supported 2k until recently. The micro transactions are outrageously expensive and 2k no longer cares about its community. I do like their games and how innovative 2k is and I thought the gameplay was decent. But now that I’ve played EA sports Golf game I think I’ll stick with EA. It has a great mycareer mode and I like the game mechanics more. Also EA are not as expensive as 2k so I hope they continue with their golfing franchise

To me personally, the EA backswing feels a little too slow, but the 2K backswing feels a bit too fast. I've been watching some swings on TV and online and it seems if EA (or even 2K for that matter) had a backswing that was somewhere between the two games t would be somewhere closer to the 'standard' golfer backswing. Obviously players like Sungae Im )PGA) and Inbee Park (LPGA) are the exception to that rule.

To be honest when you started talking about the swings and 2k23...my thoughts are this, these are suposed to kind mimick real life (we know they arent sims) but what sells me on the swing mechanics for EA PGA Tour 2023 is tempo...its done correctly, the single most important thing in golf (the swing) is done correctly! Tempo going fast or slow will never make your ball fly 50 yards left or right (looking at you 2k) it will ONLY affect distance. Ill explain physics before some 2k person comes on saying otherwise lol...strap a club to a mechanical swing machine...swing path is the same ball contact is the same, the only difference is tempo...fast or slow it will hit the ball on the same swing plane and the only variance there will be is the ball is gonna go longer or shorter...this alone is why bar none the mechanics are absolutly fantastic in EA PGA. No fanboy here either way i own more 2k stuff than EA to be honest, but for this game its EA hands down.

I played the hell out of 2k23, so much so that i just got tired of it. Im glad there is something new and refreshing. It does look sluggish compared to 2k, but i dont understand why so many people hate on a new golf game, it looks way better than their last release lol. Rory pga tour, now that one was bad, 6 courses at launch if i remeber... This aint nowhere near that bad. Its a step in the right direction for ea, even kf it isnt as good as 2k

Which is better for splitscreen with friends?

As far as visuals, I have a 4k system used for Movies and games. A modest 65” screen, etc… It looks amazing, nearly photorealistic, to my aging eyes. My only problem so far with the game, minus the bugs ( which as you mention happens on launch ) is the fact there is no way to play offline multiplayer 2-4, with more than one created golfer at a time. This is one of the reasons I bought this on the 7th, EA had on their site, that on launch day this feature would be available. The night of the 7th after several hours thinking I set something up wrong. I finally looked it up. And found SO many people just like me and my wife, wondering why it wasn’t available as stated. Everyone was pissed, when you pay that much money for a game, that claims something you want in a game, only to find out it isn’t, it’s a hard pill to swallow. So much so, we almost put it back in its case and returned it the next day. However, we decided to play it while it was in the house last night. I choose my created golfer and my wife choose a master. Which until this issue is fixed seems to be the ONLY workaround. So tonight when we play, she will play her created golfer and I’ll choose a master. That way both our created ones level up, just not at the same time. It’s not ideal, and I truly hope this oversight from EA is fixed soon. That said, it’s a beautiful game, and we will be keeping it. I can’t compare it to 2K23, since I never played it. The last golf game we played was The Golf Club, on our old Xbox One X. And this is far and away a next level game to that. Thanks for the honest take on it.

Since 2k you can't power your swing or spin the ball in the air which my mates and myself really miss. So my question is can you power up your swing and spin the ball in the air with this game.?

To bad no mouse support for PC. That is a big miss by EA. SMH. That will keep me from getting it at least for know.

This game is really tough, which I love. It's brutal with your pro until you start really leveling them up and get attributes. Putting is super hard compared to 2k. I love both games. Content wise, 2k is better bc player made courses. But gameplay and visuals goes to EA. I'm having a blast.

Is Road to the masters turn based? Thats a deal breaker for me. I want to watch my boys make their shots and scream "HACKER" during their backswing...

I have played EA PGA for 2 hours this evening. 2K23 is already in the trash. Outstanding game, Agree, the ball roll is amazing.

I have a mountain of hours in the 2k games, I always hated the swing speed. EA PGA on slowest swing speed is PERFECT.

You always buy both if you love golf games otherwise the genre dies out and that would be worse than one of the games being less good. I have 2k21, 2k23 and I will buy this because I see my game purchases as investments for future golf games as well. Nice little review and I can see how a slower swing can feel better after a while, I think the 2k swing is like you say a bit hectic and snappy.

So which one is better?

Basically it's like comparing Apples and Oranges. Both are fruit, yet distinctly different. Being an XB1 player, EA is off the table for me anyway, unless I upgrade. Thanks for the honesty MidKnight.

As someone who has played real golf and golf games for over 40 years, I can honestly say 2K is light years ahead in the mechanics of the game. The best way to explain it? 2K feels like golf. EA feels like a video game.

I agree with you 100% you hit the nail smack dab right on the head. people need to not compare the two games cause they are very different. each game has there goods and there Bads. I am a diehard EA sports fan and always will be but this game definitely has its bugs and needs some future updates. but with that being said this game is amazing and is going to continue to get better its just going to take time. And some people think the swing mechanics are bad, well when you first start playing yes they are bad but as you progress and build stats and get new clubs and fittings the swing gets really good. people just need to calm down and give the game and themselves time to improve. this isn't like 2k23 where you can have everything perfect right from the beginning, 2k23 was way to easy. this game is more of a challenge. good luck everyone and happy golfing!!

If your into graphics and story mode then EA sports it is. If you want endless opportunities to play different courses with your friends then 2k is your answer. Simple as that. Many people have already made Augusta on 2k so you won’t miss out on that if that is your concern.

Struggled with the swing at first after 23k but once into it was fantastic..so much smoother than 23k..

Bro ea is less forgiving than 2k. I can get birdies all day on 2k. Several courses I birdied almost every hole in one play through granted I played a lot to get too that point. EA hit out the park. At Augusta it’s not easy to set your self up for a birdie with your my player. One mistake and you can bogey or even triple bogey. I was -3 on the back nine and one bad hole ruined everything just like real golf

After a tons of hours in both games, EA is more realistic than 2k. The drive is easier in the ea pga tour, but approach shots and putting is much harder than 2k.

I tried PGA tour on EA play on PS5, the game is a joke its not even 60fps and 2K21 had 60hz on PS4

Nah what is going to be the toughest? remembering that changing clubs is different and aiming is not off the right stick I'm gonna have a ball. So far so good. By the 3rd hole in the Ameteur I was using the same LANGUAGE as I did in 2k23. It is different. About the only thing I would like to see is Course Designer for all the creators.

No bs tempo random duffs, way better graphics (actually play the game before crying about rendered KZfaq/tik tok videos), on ps5 the DualShock swing feels so good, different ball flights from pros, actual shot types, courses actually play different based on how the fairways are cut and how hard the greens are…..it’s so good and people just comment some bs on a Tik tok video they watched

All of the greens are fast…ALL OF THEM! The putting system is horrible. …I don’t have an issue with the tempo of the swing and the game is certainly beautiful with the course and player models. Game is worth $35 at best as is. No way I’d pay $70 for this as-is.

You should be asking 2k23's launch vs Ea's launch...Oh wait EA hasn't launched yet until tomorrow.

Honestly, (and I’m surprised myself considering it’s EA); but PGA Tour is hands down the better game. Graphically it looks GORGEOUS! BEST looking golf game I’ve ever played. Gameplay wise? I honestly feel it’s better than 2k23. I feel I wasted money on 2K23. In loving PGA Tour so far!

Ea has a good concept I feel the ball does more of what it really does, but 2k has better gameplay easier to maneuver. Only thing on ea is ball physics really. Ball doesn’t just stop like on 2k
