The facilitator of the EAC- Led Nairobi Peace Process in the Eastern region of the DRC, H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday had a packed day engaging local community leaders and Government officials on the protracted security situation in Eastern DRC.
H.E Uhuru Kenyatta was joined by EAC Secretary General, Hon. (Dr.) Peter Mathuki and the Special Representative of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, Prof. Serge Tshibangu. H.E. Kenyatta engaged with the Civil Society Structures of South Kivu and North Kivu, DRC Prime Minister H.E. Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, President of the National Assembly Hon. Christophe Mboso N'Kodia and the President of the Senate Modeste Bahati Lukwebo. He also engaged with Community leaders from Ituri and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
H.E Uhuru Kenyatta sought to understand their perspective on the security situation and their recommendations on resolving it.
Thereafter the Facilitator held a press briefing updating the media on the meetings.
