Normally, as you said, the group sings in Korean and English (their writer/producer is a Korean-American who grew up in New York and California). However, the group was very popular in Japan when they first debuted so they created a Japanese version of their songs (they also changed the raps to English) and performed in Japanese during concerts in Japan. Nowadays I believe they only sing in Korean/English.

It's true that they don't start out like the origin story of many western groups (i.e. a bunch of friends who decide to create a band and practice in "Bobby's garage" for years before getting a contract with a big label...type of story). But they all are talented young people who realize early on that they want to have a career in music and performance, so they very willingly participate in auditions hoping to get signed up just as a trainee in one of the reputable music and entertainment companies. In this case, the Blackpink members were brought in as trainees by YG Entertainment, one of the biggest names in Kpop. (YG held an open audition in Thailand that 4,000 people participated in. Lisa was the only one that YG selected out of the 4,000 people who auditioned. Rose went through a similar audition in Australia.) In a way after they become trainees, they do sort of create their own group. Ultimately it is the company that decides whether to launch a group and who will be in the group (and out of dozens of trainees, it is only a few who go on to become a group). But one of the key things the company looks for is the way different combinations of trainees work together, what kind of chemistry and friendship they have. The Blackpink girls worked together so well and had such good chemistry with each other that the company ultimately realized that those four trainees had to be together as the next group created by the company.

Blackpink didn't know how to speak Japanese before they become trainees. They were taught Japanese in the agency during their trainee days. All songs were converted to Japanese and the Korean raps were converted to English rap.

Rose and Lisa couldn't enroll Korean H.S. because of language barrier Not the training, as you can see Jisoo finished H.S. Korean entertainment companies like trainees to finish H.S. at least, if it's possible. By the way Korean school studying is very difficult and hard as you may know. It's not like Western schools studying. That's why jenni went to New Zealand to study, more free time, less stress and learn english much easier way if you can afford expenses. Might be rich family's daughter??❤❤
