Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on KZfaq!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...
WARNING
Abandoned mines and ruined structures have many hazards and can severely injure or even kill you. Do not attempt to copy or re-enact situations or scenarios seen in this video. Stay Out and Stay Alive: • Gly Says... STAY OUT S...

Great episode. I live near Fallon and have been in Eagleville a couple of times over the years. I remember my back aching from being bent over so much while exploring it. Nice seeing it from the comfort of my chair, LOL. I'm sad the USN is withdrawing so much of my usual stomping grounds from public access. Thank You guys.

It's rare to find an abandoned mine cut into such solid rock, where there's basically no risk of a cave-in in the main tunnels. Those tunnels are over 100 years old and the floor is still clear. Definitely a safe place to take shelter from nearly anything as long as you have stuff to dig your way out from external collapse.

i have followed your channel for a long time, and will continue to do so. your camerawork and lighting are excellent, and you are knowledgeable and entertaining. Laura is a good fit and adds to your channel's appeal. i was disappointed to hear the background music. this seems to be a new fad, as it has appeared on many youtubers videos. i am hard of hearing , and barely heard noises drive me bonkers, lol. closed captioning may take away from the beauty of the mine, but i am so glad it is available on your videos, and that you speak clearly enough it catches all your words. thanks so much for sharing the beauty and history of earlier Americans!

Where was the quartzs vein in this mine if its a Gold mine? At 27:24, re: loosing thought process.....not at your age, except sporadicly. As my grandpa explained when he was in his 70's, "its as the file drawers in his brain got full, then some have to be emptied to make room for new thoughts. (mind you, this said before there were computors) but thats the way he saw it. My question got answered, about where is the quartz vein? You're following a hydrothermal occulsion. Very cool. Thanks for sharing your explore with us.

I am, respectively, going to disagree that it is "public land". It is owned by the government. The government, and not we the public, control the lands and they tell us what we can and cannot do. Too often the government just wants to exercise its power and show us who is boss. Guess I have too many years bumping into government of one sort or another.

“Gly”: The selfi-shot breaks up the forward facing shots and personalizes the viewing experience otherwise it would be one long continuous shot and over time that gets boring. In the beginning I stayed out of the cameras eye for entirely different reasons, being in the witness protection program does have its rules and limitations.😉

@@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces I disagree, it's not boring, FPV is what I prefer. Breaking up the shots ruins the experience, I'm trying to look at so many different things in the shot and then bam it goes back to looking at you, very frustrating. Also the parrot cam is unnecessary and distorts the view.

Gly? What exactly is an ore sample, and what do they look for to see if it is worth it to mine?
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces
@AbandonedandForgottenPlaces 2 күн бұрын
“Gly”: They will chip out a sample using some kind of hand tool from a strategic part of the ore body, sack it up and take it back to be assayed using chemicals or gravity separation. When sampling an ore body they first start by sampling the margins where the ore meets the hanging wall or foot wall as this is typically the area of higher concentration.
