Ten years since the release of his debut album Doris (and nine years since his first interview with us), Earl Sweatshirt returned to FBi Radio to sit down with Bri Kennedy on Arvos. He reflected on how his art has changed over time, told us about his new album with The Alchemist, and shared his thoughts on fatherhood.

27 Braids is my favourite too. Not only does it sound SOO good, but for the reasons he mentions, it feels quite reflective in a way to look forward. It’s decisive & now hearing he was writing that during his partners pregnancy, it makes sense why it feels like that.

i will say, earl sometimes has a way with speaking for a full 4 minutes to only get out half a thought in his mind idk if he’s just faded or if he’s never sure how deep he wants to go on a question. it’s something i’ve noticed about a number of his interviews

Everything I ever hear Earl say is true. It’s way more difficult to be on beat on a slow tempo, it requires a kind of restraint that higher tempos don’t.
