This video is from the last 3 hunts and the season is just started. Kudos to anyone that can name the types found in the video. Also i have a 3 day hunt planned for next week that should produce some killer artifacts. God willing the river doesn’t rise after all this rain. 🙏🏻 Hope y’all enjoy the video and as always I look forward to reading and responding to your comments. To all the rock hounds out there good luck and I hope you don’t mind chasing my footprints haha take care KZfaq and happy hunting.

Lord have mercy! That first Decatur was one of the thinnest bi-face points I think I've seen. Especially that base. It's amazing that it wasn't more broken than it was. Great find. The Big Sandy was a stunner too. And, of course, that final point made my hair stand on end! Dude, you guys find some BIG BOY treasure fo shore! Great video. Great camera work as well. Your videos are super crisp and clear.

Thank you brother. I’m dying to find a full Decatur now. I didn’t realize they were so small in size. I’ve got one I found last year that’s less than an inch. The last one found in the video was the biggest I’ve ever found. Me and Josey have found 5 all together and only 1 was whole from a construction site. What I’m most excited about tho is the harpeth river I found. First I’ve ever found and would love to see a more pristine example. Either way thanks for the comment brother and have a great day. ✌🏻

Thank you brother man. That old piece I called a greenbrier is actually what’s called a harpeth river. Points 365 finds them more than me and definitely thinks so as well. Those Decaturs are nasty little buggers. One of these days damn it I’ll find a full piece. Hitting the river tomorrow for 3 days with a good friend from Ohio. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 I can put him on a couple good ones. Take care and have a great night my friend

Thank you my friend. I had to reach out to points 355 to figure that harpeth river out afterwards. I called it right in the video tho thank god or people would have torn me up about it lol. First one I’ve ever found! Very excited to that possibly in nicer condition. Also I’ve found 4 or 5 broken Decaturs now and I’m dying to find one whole. Those tips are wide and so thin they seem to stand little chance to survive all that tumbling/rolling around. Either way I’m glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comment. Nice Turkey tail. The triangular piece is a Cobbs trans paleo. Some in that time period would put a small shallow notch in all triangular points The Packard I found today has one only way I could tell it was a packard was because of the diamond cross section. Only type that has that others are oval or roundedflats. Thanks for sharing.
@benallen7793
@benallen7793 6 ай бұрын
Thank you Z. That little triangular point definitely had an older look to it. Cobbs maybe or I was kinda thinking Hi Lo variant. As far as the Packard you found it also had an old look to it. I found a few greenbrier dalton type points that have a straight side and a small shallow notch in them. Seems to be a common technique to the transitional paleo peoples. Congratulations on the find and thank you for taking the time to comment on my video. ✌🏻

Thanks Terry. I’ve been to 3 or 4 shows in the past but just stopped going because they always seem to fall on my free days to hunt. I wanted to go to the St. Joseph show again this year but missed it sadly. What shows are coming up? I’ll try and make the time. Do you have a table or just passionate about artifacts? One day I’d love to have a table at some of the shows. Only thing I don’t like is not having a finders/hunters only show. Most these guys can’t tell ya where the piece was found if it’s not written on a COA.

Dang boys when I first saw that red big sandy I could have sworn it was 5-5.5 inches long. Still a beautiful find. I know how it feels to try looking over your phone to inspect your find. It’s impossible to do looking through the Lenz. It’s easy for your filming hand to drift momentarily while you’re inspecting your find. I agree that’s definitely an old site. Kinda reminds me of the finds from around here! Dang what a beautiful point to wrap up the video! GL&HH 👍👍👍

Thank you brother. Josey Whales is the only man I know that consistently pulls 5” points out. Seems like every year now 😡 if you can’t tell I’m a touch jealous. 😂 I only have two that are 4 3/8” and 4 1/12”s. I’ve seen all your videos also and your definitely in a very old area. Where I think you need to focus is the areas that don’t put out anything but the oldies like you mentioned in last video or two ago. Where you said that sick pinetree and quad were found. In what you considered to be more of a dead zone. Trust me I know your just a good rain storm/ 1/4” of erosion away from an epic piece again! My best sites will produce nothing sometimes for 10-20 trips and sometimes not at all in a season. What drives me nuts tho is being on a heavily flaked out site in the bottoms. Sure I frequent areas like this when the oldies aren’t showing themselves.. Focus only on burnt rock and little sign areas. Take care my friend. Happy hunting and have a great weekend

@@benallen7793 looks like I’m gonna have to borrow ole Whales from you for a month or two. Those sites I found the good stuff on have a heavy layer of muck on top of the hard pan. They have for the last two years. Even In different areas it seems like the hard pan migrates from the bank that was good the year before to another one that was covered in mud previously! I’ve learned to just try to hunt the hard pan areas and move on to the next even if it’s 10 minutes away by boat. I have sites that look like the indians poured out buckets full of flint everywhere. I used to try and pick up the flint to discourage people from hunting my areas, now I’ve found the greatest deterrent is a bunch of my tracks that were left behind right after every rain. That’ll discourage others quicker than anything. Good luck out there!👍👍👍

@benallen7793
@benallen7793 4 ай бұрын
In short yes you can… Better question tho is why would you? These artifacts in the video range from 3k-9k years old. To resharpen them is very possible but would ruin the artifacts authenticity imo. The damage to the pieces are usually from use wear all those years ago. Perfect artifacts are nice but very rare. I’m partial to the used up ones also because they tell one hell of a story in a sense. Like the scrapers in the video. They saw probably 10+ animals and were essential in cleaning the hide of the animal 🦬 Thanks for the comment Robert and have a great week.
