Great picking! I’ve learned about fingerpicking from your videos, especially the Dave Van Ronk arrangements. I can’t yet figure out how his Just a Closer Walk with Thee is arranged; nothing I do sounds quite right and I can’t find a video of him playing it live. Do you happen to know how he got that sound?

What guitar might you recommend for a beginner with little cash?

There's no easy answer -- different people like different guitars. There are a lot of good, relatively inexpensive guitars on the market these days, and my best advice would be to try a bunch of them and see which feels and sounds good to you.

Get yourself a solid top acoustic guitar from Yamaha. You can get a new one for about $200. As the guitar ages, the wood in that top will dry out and become more resonant. You will get many years of musical enjoyment out of that instrument.

@@petemccarry2326 I've played nice Yamahas, but there are many brands of good, inexpensive guitars and the last time I wanted one I found other brands that worked better for me. As I wrote above, there is no single answer that works for everybody.
