I decided to take the 3 hour drive up to Manchester and catch some of the repatriation flights for Thomas Cook customers on the morning of the 3rd October. I arrived at the southside bank around 7am and stayed till 2pm catching plenty of footage, enough for 2 seperate videos. This is the first half of my visit, containing sunrise departures from 23L and some arrivals on 23R.
To begin with the lighting was brilliant, golden autumn lighting. It was also quite chilly as well, temperatures around freezing! There was also a frost on the ground once I arrived. Clouds arrived soon after, and remained throughout the morning.
There was plenty of movements about, one thing which was missing was sadly the morning wave of Thomas Cook's. I did however see an A321 in their colours being operated by Titan on a repatriation flight to Corfu. There was also a few other firms operating repatriation flights on destinations further afield, in this video that includes an all white Euroatlantic 767, an Evelop A330-300 and an Atlas Air 747-400. It was also a surprising treat to see the BBMF Dakota leave Manchester after diverting in 3 weeks earlier. One beautiful classic to say the least
