If you watch Goddard's interview after the fight you'll see that Jiri thought it was the end of the round. That was a good stoppage. The video picks only the moments of Jiri punching Alex.

The only thing Jiri was winning was most leg kicks received and most mobility lost. Which made him desperate in the end and lead to him being kod. Pretty simple. Alex fights different look at what he did to adesayna . Willing to lose 4 rounds to gas his opponent knowing he has the power to end it when they have nothing left.

No. He was knocked down twice within 10 seconds. He started off standing, got knocked to his knees, went for a desperate takedown, got elbowed around 12 times which made him fall back, then Alex ended up on top in full mount. Pretty much the definition of a perfect stoppage.

Jiri's weakness is that he doesn't keep his hands up to defend his head. He is comfort with taking shots to the head but there's something unique about Alex's left hook. You can't afford to expose your head to that left hook

Then he woke back up from hitting the ground, but the ref was already on his way in to stop it. But it doesn't matter if he wakes back up, it's the fact that he went out...

Actually he was out. Fighters lose consciousness for a split second. U see it in Max vs Alex second fight. Jiri did not grab his opponents legs when Alex elbowed. He fell on his legs and when they rolled to the ground the impact woke jiri awake. With 50+ seconds to go and in full amount, Alex would have pounded him into oblivion. Jiri should thank marc for saving him

The ref stopped the fight at the very moment that he felt he had seen enough. It doesnt matter if Jiri popped back up afterwards. At the time the ref made the decision to intervene Jiri had multiple chances to show he was still in the fight, but did not. Therefor this was a good stoppage and saved the longevity of Jiri's career.

had it gone another 2 seconds, jiri wouldve gotten years shaved off his life. he got ko'd into a full mount. he wouldve been MEGAFUCKED had goddard not saved him. Same goes for the adesanya stoppage. both were great calls, unless of course you just wanna watch someone potentially get killed. these fights do NOT need to end in brutal ko's everytime.

Poatan nessa luta estava com um queixo de pedra. Suportou muitos socos limpos. Alguns protestam a intervenção do árbitro de ter sido precipitada. Mas foram muitas cotolevadas fortes na cabeça, Jiri apagou um período, ficou claro. O árbitro fez um excelente trabalho em não prolongar e pôr em risco a saúde do Jiri. Ficou claro que ele apagou e é claro a agressividade das cotoveladas. Este foi o melhor resultado possível.

Definitely a early stoppage and just generally a disappointing fight. All that hype for an above average fight. And for everyone that says jiri admitted to being out cold, Jiri said in a interview after the fight that he only said that so the referee wouldn't get any hate.

This fight is why all the fights after this have gone longer than usual for a stoppage - it was stopped early and everyone knew it - these guys train for months to fight - you need to give them at least 10-15 seconds when it’s a scramble situation
