Accelerator is still hands down in my top 3 from FSOL. Brilliant album (in my opinion).

FSOL is really underrated. I honestly didn't start getting into them until the last year or two and I'm kicking myself.

Yeah, they were huge for a few years but as with a lot of their contemporaries, they seem to have been half-forgotten as time has gone by. It's one of the reasons I've been making these videos - hopefully be able to spread the word about how creative they were and still are.

The album mix of PNG feels cinematic and foreshadows their direction FSOL would take their music, but I feel that it loses a lot of punch that the original 12" has. On that mix, the beat comes in quickly and propels the track all the way through. On the album, the beat comes in late and feels like just one more layer of sound rather than the driver for the whole track.

Interesting perspective - I get what you mean, though. I think it works in context of the album, but if I ever want to listen to the track on its own I always go with the 12" Original. As you say, kicking off with the beat gives it more energy.
