Cardboard corrugated roll,
2 plastic plates (use plant pot tray),
2 slow rpm dc motors,
2 9v battery,
GI wire mesh or any suitable material (for mounting the earth model)
Black chart paper (2),
Marbles (for lazy susan)
scissors,
hot glue,
electrical bulb or torch,
This video is for educational and model making purpose. All necessary dimensions for making the model and step by step tutorial is shown in the video. Hope you will enjoy this video

You can use multiple layers of cardboard instead of the mesh. The material you use should be light in weight and strong too. Shaft is the cylindrical component that rotates. It comes along with the dc motor. You can get this dc motor online or in your local electrical shops. All the best.

Yes, it will work i guess. Use 2 or 3 paper plates at the top and 2-3 at the bottom. Glue 2-3 paper plates together to make it strong.

Our Moon has a synchronous rotation with our Earth. The time required by the moon for one full rotation around its own axis is equal to the time required by the moon to revolve around the earth. This is why we see the same side of the moon always. I have made the model in the same way. The earth and moon in the model has a synchronous rotation.

You need a chain like arrangement to rotate the model. Unfortunately, corrugated paper is the easiest option. You can use a metal chain assembly which will make the materials even expensive.

I got it from a pet shop that sells pet birds. They use this mesh to make bird cages. I bought a scrap piece of mesh for 15 rupees.

Corrugated cardboard is the best cost effective thing that you can use as a chain. You can take a belt like paper strip and stick pieces of sticks to make a similar arrangement, but, not sure how far it will be effective. But, its worth trying.

I have used the cardboard like a chain to turn the plates. This is the easiest way to achieve this. Else use a thick chart paper and stick wooden sticks (match sticks may work) to make a chain like arrangement. Do you get what i mean?

rpm will be around 20 to 30 approx. It depends on the input voltage too. Both are the same dc motors.

Hello I have a question, the motor the earth is on is spinning too fast what did u wrap around it to slow it down? And for the motor on the bottom it won’t spin the plate at all so how can I fix this

You should use a slow rpm dc motor. It is a cardboard (corrugated paper roll). You should fix the motor and the plate properly.
