THE STANDARD....IS THE STANDARD. My big sister was 17 in 1976 and I was 11 when she bought this ALBUM that I eventually stole. Til this day, it is STILL amidst the Holy Grail of vinyl that I own. These brothers preached and pumped life and love into me from that time until now. They speak truth/light and have assisted me thru some peaks and valleys as they were on time and ahead of their time. Still misiing Mo and Don Myrick of the Phenix Horns however we shall connect again. I beg of you to LISTEN again for the 1st time, if you haven't. Summum bonum.

When my two daughters were growing up, they didn't understand me saying I use certain EWF tracks as medicine, on cassettes back then, now on playlists. Until the past few years, I've needed to visit a doctor 2-3 times in my adult life. This track Always made the prescription list.

Went to a Catholic High School in '82 . Had to read aloud some biblical passages in front of the class or something. I asked if I could also play (record player vinyl) a couple of songs to go with my presentation. Teacher said sure. I played "Sunshine" by EW&F and "The River" by Santana. Both have somewhat uplifting messages. I hope I got an A. Don't really remember but I hope I put a little life in that boring class.

You know what it reminds me of especially when it starts off The Wiz the scene in the movie where the city starts changing colors and the people are strolling down the lane with the swag look! I was listening to this when I was single, in my 20s. I was enlisted in the US Coast Guard. We’re at a training base out in the country side, Sonoma county California. We are in a baseball dug out & I’m singing this song in some girl’s ear. That person is somebodies grandmother by now. Anyway this song brings back memories.
