ya know the fun thing, in earthbound most gamers recognize the Bill Gates pastiche in ORANGE KID howerver most noobs dont see Steve WOZNIAK as the aple kid, since steve jobs is way less important as a creator and tech engineeer as the genius Steve Wozniak, making them wonder why does the apple kid dont look like Jobs. Earthbound, mother 2, i s a japanee game. japanese knew who the true genius of Apple computers was and is = god wozniak.

Ordered on eBay and it really touched me. Then I realized it was the mailman touching me. Really changed my life.

This is super late but I played it for the first time after beating elden ring in early march. Maybe the best game I’ve ever played. I named the whole team after my family besides the main character. Earthbound is special and I still think about my team and miss them.

It has been too long, this was a big one I wanted to be sure I got "right" and put the time in to make it as close to perfect as I was able. Hoping to start putting out more videos before long though! :)

Pretty sure nobody gave a damn about earthbound when it came out. Became a humongous deal at some point relatively recently, like maybe 15 years

@@DanielRivera-on5qh earthbound was the first new game I had ever bought with my own money, I’m pretty sure it was loved by those who made the purchase all those years ago.

@@DuoBeard I've heard a lot of people say they saw them in clearance bins not selling back around those days

Its so so good. Had no nostalgia for it. Got a snes mini for Christmas the year it launched and it was the only game I wasn't nostalgic for. Fell in love with it. The late game difficulty spike ain't no joke though.

Oh gosh... I was around 12 or so I think? I remember using my allowance to buy a SNES and Link to the Past. Eventually traded LttP for EarthBound. So that would have been '98 or so? Since then I've lost count the number of times I played it but I do can recall a number of specific play-throughs from start to finish. 1 - first time I finally finished it after bringing everyone to level 99 2. second play-through 3. Playthrough with my now-wife 3. Playthrough for first review of EB 4. 24-hour stream of EarthBound in one sitting 5. Jukebox Hero playthrough of EB on Twitch 6. Playthrough for the re-review I'm positive there are several I didn't list that I don't recall specifically, such as when I played it on an emulator at work between taking phone calls, that sort of thing, but I don't know for sure I beat those runs anymore. :)

@@SuperDerek Thank you! I know Undertale but I have never played, and it didn't even appeal to me (in reviews, they never mentioned it was inspired by EarthBound), but I trust your opinion, I will get it.

Yep. Sony published the soundtrack in Japan which is straight up just captured audio from a SNES, and have been flagging all new content as being music from that album.

I could totally see how the game could have been a huge turnoff to people already into RPGs at the time since it was really something off-the-wall by comparison. I think that might have been what helped it speak to me at the time. :)

That was Arc Rise Fantasia. It's far worse than anything NISA has ever done. ;)
