Living on the West Coast,4.8 is really nothing when you’ve lived through a bunch of 7.0’s in 2020. That was scary beyond anything. But glad you’re ok! Stay safe! Cute doggy. 💕

Hunter, it was scary. I live on Long Island and my house was shaking. I called my brother in Ireland and said "I think we just had an earthquake", because you are so right, it took forever to get official news about it. I felt an earthquake about 13 years ago and this one was much worse and seemed to last longer. I know it was no fun but now you have a great story.

As a native Californian from the Bay Area, a 4.8 is rather mid range for shaking. Nothing like the Loma Prieta we had with a 7+ and the collapse of the Bay Bridge. Instinct tells me to always duck and cover (under a sturdy table or a doorway). Once the shaking stops it is best to go outside and survey any damage. You lived through an exciting and rare geologic occurrence.....

Yes, get under a table or next to a heavy piece of furniture. Protect your head. Don't stand in a doorway, Stay where you are & get under or next to something that won't tip over. I live in a seismic zone ( i can see the San Andreas fault from my house,. yes really)

Happy birthday Hunter!!! I hope you have a great day! 🎉 I grew up in west Texas where earthquakes were very rare in the 70s/80s but now are a very common occurrence due to oilfield fracking. I live in central NM now and we sometimes feel the effects from the ones in west Texas. For me, it usually feels like a slight shake or if I’m sitting it’s like I’m on a boat with small waves. I have been visiting my Dad in west Texas and felt a bigger one though. There was a loud boom and then everything shook.

I was working at one of rental car places at SFO during the 1989 Earthquake in SF. Some of the ceiling tiles fell down and the counter I was working behind was majorly swaying. Then the power went out and I don't remember it ever coming back on before we left to go to the main office. So much happened that night and many lives lost at various places around the SF Bay Area.

An earthquake is definitely a weird feeling. We had one about a month ago. I didn't feel it, but got very dizzy for a few minutes. The one we had years ago was stronger, and it felt like a huge wind was blowing and shaking the house.

Did you not think to turn on the TV in the hotel room to get local news? I had early knowledge of the quake because my brother texted me from New York to ask if I had felt anything in Maryland. Which I had not, but there was nothing on the radio at that time (I was in my car). But then about 10 to 20 minutes later, the radio started reporting it.

Watching non-Californians / non-Angelenos experience earthquakes is kind of fun or at least interesting to watch. My first few out here were scary or at least confusing but by now it's nothing. We had one about a month or two ago and I was just waking up from a nap. I felt it... laid there... then just started watching some unrelated KZfaq. I feel confident that I can gauge at this point if its serious

RUN out of the house.....lived in LA for 12 years and we got hit 3 times really hard 6.3+ LOL The last one was when I worked at LAX as a gate agent for United. They had to shut off the gas lines both fuel/compressed liquid to ensure no leaks. It was a nightmare to say the least. I know a lot of us slept in the lounge that night so we could cover call offs....ugh memories of the past LOL

I grew up in Vancouver and then lived in Berkeley CA on top of a fault line, that was a small earthquake to me. I’ve been through some 6’s and many smaller ones. I was shouting at the screen “don’t go outside! It’s not a fire drill!” 😂🤦🏻♀️

I know only too well how tough flying is without an Earthquake. As you know one of my sons is a Captain here and the last six months the delays that they have are unbelievable. I've been in the Industry for a long time (not any longer) but back "in the day" other than if something went mechanical, the flights would be pretty well on time, maybe a few minutes difference. yes! It was scary. I live in NYC. I was on the computer reading e mail and suddenly the building was shaking. Honest.. thought I was having panic attack. Then it stoped.{hone rang and rang... friends asking did u feel that? within 5 minutes ... it was all over the news. Around 6pm there was another one.. but less duration. I was washing dishes and the sink began to shake. By then... it was.. here comes another but over in 15 seconds.

A 4.8 is nothing in comparison to an 8.5 I experienced in 2010 in my home country we are used to Earthquakes

@@HunterLihas it was in deed. But this wasn't the most intense earthquake we had, we are famous worldwide for the 9.5 earthquake in 1960 in Valdivia Chile. This is the most intense earthquake in history
