Blue Rock Station is a sustainable living center located in southern Ohio. It is a demonstration project, seeking to live with and demonstrate a number of ideas and theories around sustainable and resilient living. It features the first Earthship built east of the Mississippi - a dozen or so straw bale buildings, tiny house, homestead living (chickens, gardens, dairy goats, etc). HI does the bottle green house bottles have water inside them?

The bottles are empty. You cut the bottom off and invert them in a stack on top of a full size bottle on the bottom. There is a booklet available that tells you how to build this project at: bluerockstation.com/green-living-books/

How did you get the approval to build?

In our county and at that time, the only permit required was a plumbing permit. Which we did get. But other jurisdictions have passed the Earthship concept. Michael Reynold's group in New Mexico have engineering documentation that can help with planning and code authorities.
