I feel so dumb! I have just assumed it didn't come off for the last 5 months and been cleaning it with it on with sani whipes and things... I was so irritated with it and after watching this I cut mine and was able to actually put the tray in the wash and actually feel that it is sanitized! THank you!!!!

THANK YOU! It just took me all of 5 minutes with a box cutter to make those adjustments and ITS SO MUCH BETTER. I don’t feel like I’m going to break the tray every time I try and remove it and I don’t have to manhandle the chair 😂

Oh wow. This actually works! Thank you and your husband so very much! I just did mine with an exacto style knife in just a few minutes. It still gives a bit of a loud stiff pop when I remove it but it isn’t difficult OR too easy. I can tell there’s no way my Grandchildren are going to pop this off themselves for instance, so that’s a good thing too. I’m absolutely thrilled. Again, thank you guys so, so much.

I was easily able to remove the tray from the highchair with your tip about pushing in the middle and pulling from the corner and I didn’t have to cut any ribs underneath.

I thought only me have the problem. Have been using it for a year. Half month i did bring all in the toilet & wash in there but then i buy add-on wide suction table to cover the ikea table. So just wash the add-on table. Still using it since it come with a bib. A life saver. Now he's big&a less messy eater, i might let him eat on the ikea table only

Thanks for sharing this, i ended up not modifying the tray, I just lifted that corner clip with my finger and the rest is what you showed , meaning lifting ithe tray from the corner 💪🏻

I just dabbed a drop of olive oil on each tab....worked a treat.....👍

This tip has been a game changer! I took a Dremel to the stanchions. Not sure why IKEA added these reinforcements. It’s totally unnecessary for the every day family.

I was thinking of cutting the reinforcement down on those outer tabs when my wife found this video. HAha... works a treat though. My tip is that instead of how she lifed it off with two hands, just pull up with the right hand and use the left hand to 'manually' release the first tab (the one nearest the hand pulling up). A lot less violent and with virtually no popping sound.

And if it doesn't work out of you...I saw a hack where they just drilled 4 holes at each point and use it as the foot rest. Since trays are $5 at Ikea! Awesome! Thank you!

I used my Dremel and cut a slit in the left outer bracket only (left when facing from the front). Then I place my left palm on that left inside tray and pull up with my right hand on the right outside tray and it pops off.

For those with miter saws, I was able to make the cuts with ease. Thanks for the tip!

I tried this and it’s made no difference ☹️ it scares my baby every time I take it off and it makes a loud pop

After doing this fix, I could get it off, but it was still too stiff for my tiny wife to pull off, so I also cut the clip off one of the corner tabs (the little right angle part at the end of the tab), and now she can pull it on and off from that corner.
