This worked out so well!! I got like four pairs of pants online that were too big and I didn’t want to deal with returns, I’m new to sewing and it came out great!

I did this further from the center, so one above the middle of each pocket and it works well! Pulling the thread on the inside one stitch at a time, starting from the top, is easier than pulling on the outside

The best part is if u mess up u can just cut the thread off and restart

I have big hips compared to my waist, so I always have to use a belt around the waist to keep my pants up. But this alteration has worked beautifully! Thank you for sharing this info :)

If the thread alway snaps at the end, just pull it tight while you’re already sewing

worked out perfectly!! I have a sewing machine but had no denim needle on hand and it was too late at night to go get one. Although, I removed the sizing info on the inside and the belt loop using a seam ripper to make things easier.

Im size 26, thrifted size 27 jeans because it was new and i got it in just a little more than a dollar. Thank you so much for this. Sadly, i underestimated myself and left a tiny bit of the marked line thinking itll get too tight but now im left with a **slightly** loose jeans💀

Yes it worked. I had to re do it like 2 times because finishing was not too good and I messed up lines. But It works.

I think this kind of fix is better for non-jeans pants where the fabric is not so dense and tough. If you take in jeans by sewing on machine and cutting the excess from the back waist, it will look much smoother and more properly finished, iMO. But, nice to know that there is another option.

Yes, it looks better but unfortunately not everyone has access to a sewing machine or time that it takes to do that.

The heaviness of the Jean material prevented the stitch from being able to close fully. Had two little ladders on the back of my jeans.

This works really well!! I would normally use a belt but the one I had broke and my new one has the holes spaced pretty far apart so it's either to tight or to loose, so I've just been using a shoe lase 🥲👍

if you're going to take in more, close the fabric and pull the thread as you go, so long as you've marked where you're going to needle. don't wait till the end to close it all at once

It works if one can sew😊 ,it's hit and miss at the beginning but I got there,lucky me I have a sewing machine and I am handy at it (coming from a family where tailoring was done as a hobby!😊)

Thank you! I am happy to find a non permanant way to alter my pants! I think this method could be reversed fairly easily and seems quicker and easier to do than other sewing machine methods I have found that involve opening up stich seams.

Damn it ruined my jeans. When tightening, the thread broke and I was left with the material unsightly rolled between the seams, even though material of the jeans is not even that thick.
