What is Taqwa? 1.Taqwa is when you miss a single prayer,you feel uneasy the whole day. 2.Taqwa is when you speak a lie,your insticts feel bad. 3.Taqwa is the guilt that follows when you hurt someone knowingly or unknowingly. 4.Taqwa is shame and regret that follows a sin you did knowing full well about its gravity in the sight of Allah. 5.Taqwa is when you cannot sleep the whole night after disobeying or disrespecting your parents. 6.Taqwa is to cry in the depths of the night fearing none but the One above the arsh. 7.Taqwa is the fear from sinning even when we're alone and nobody is looking. 8.Taqwa is the guts and the will to please Allah,even the wolrd is hell bent on displeasing Him. 9.Taqwa is to wear that beard and hijab for sole reason of pleasing our Rabb and to keep it as personal. 10.Taqwa is to stay happy and smiling even after knowing this world is prison for believers. 11.Taqwa is the good manners and character that loving and fearing Allah brings in us. 12.Taqwa is the sruggle to better yourself according to Islam with each passing day. 13.Taqwa is not only about rising in Deen,it is more about falling but rising up again and never letting go. 14.Taqwa is all about what lies in the heart. Here are some motivating tips from Allah and the Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) to help you raise your degrees in Jannah as well as increase your property in Shaa Allah. I) Raise your degrees 1) Memorising the Quran Abd-Allah Ibn 'Amr narrated that the Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"It will be said to the companion of the Quran : Recite and rise in status, recite as you used to recite in the world, for your status will be at the last verse that you recite." [ Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood ] 2) Doing a lot of dhikr Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"Shall I not inform you the best and the purest of your deed in the sight of your Master, which is the highest in your degrees, is superior to your spending gold and silver in charity, and is better than confronting and fighting against your enemy, cutting one another's necks?". The companions submitted :"Yes, indeed!". He (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"It is remembering Allah." [ Sahih Tirmidhi ] 3) Doing good deeds(at least compulsory good deeds) and staying away from bad deeds Allah said :" And whoever comes to Him (Allah) as a believer, and has done righteous good deeds, for such are the high ranks (in the Hereafter)." (Quran 20:75) 4) Doing a lot of nawafil (non compulsory deeds) According to Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :" Allah said :" Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My servant draws near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about [seizing] the soul of My faithful servant : he hates death and I hate hurting him." [ Bukhari ] 5) How to earn Jannat ul-Firdaws (highest degree in Jannah) Allah said :"1) Certainly the believers have succeeded : 2) They who are during their prayer humbly submissive, 3) And they who turn away from ill speech, 4) And they who are observant of Zakah, 5) And they who guard their private parts, 6) Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they will not be blamed, 7) But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors, 8) And they who are to their trusts and their promises attentive, 9) And they who carefully maintain their prayers, 10) Those are the inheritors, 11) Who will inherit Al-Firdaws. They will abide theirein eternally." (Quran 23 : 1-11) 6) Making a sincere du'aa that you desire Jannat ul-Firdaws It was recorded in the Two Sahihs that the Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"If you ask Allah for Paradise, then ask Him for Al-Firdaws for it is the highest part of Paradise, in the middle of Paradise, and from it spring the rivers of Paradise, and above it is the Throne of the Most Merciful." [ Bukhari and Muslim ] II) Increase your property II-1) How to build a palace 1) Reciting 10 times surah 'Ikhlas' The Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said:"Whoever recites Qul huwallaahu aHad (Surah Ikhlaas) ten times, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise." [Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, 6472)] PS : It is a very easy way to earn a palace and it only takes about one minute. So you can earn 10 palaces in 10 minutes. Don't waste this great opportunity and try to make this a motivating habit and earn as many palaces as you can. 2) Praying 12 rak'aat in a day Narrated by Umm Habibah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"A house will be built in Heaven for one who prays 12 Sunnat Rak'aat in a day and evening as follows : 4 rak'aat before and 2 after the Dhur Prayer, 2 after the Maghrib Prayer, 2 after the 'Ishaa' Prayer and 2 before the Fajr Prayer." [ Tirmidhi ] PS : According to the scholars, the 4 rak'aat should be performed by 2 prayers of 2 rak'aat 3) Building a masjid The Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"Whoever builds a masjid (mosque) for Allah, Allah will build for him likewise in Paradise." [ Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim ] 4) Abandoning arguments and lies and improving your behaviour Abu Umamah (RA) narrated that the Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"I am a guarantor for a house on the outskirts of Paradise for whosoever leaves off arguing, even if he is in the right; and a house in the center of Paradise for whosoever abandons falsehood, even when joking; and a house in the upper-most part of Paradise for whosoever makes his character good." [ Abu Dawud ] II-2) How to earn other great things in your property 1) A tree in Jannah Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud (RA) reported that the Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"I met Nabi Ibrahim (AS) when I was taken on Mi'aj (ascension to the heavens) and he told me :"O Muhammad, convey my salam (greetings) to your ummat and tell them that Jannah has good soil and sweet water, but it is barren. The plantation of Jannah is (the recital of) Subhan'Allah, Alhamdulill'AH? La ilaha illa Allah and Allahu Akbar." [ Sunan Tirmidhi, hadith: 3462. Imam Tirmidhi has classified his hadith as sound (hasan) ] PS : It is time to build our own huge forests in Shaa Allah. So let's get motivated. 2) A palm tree in Jannah Hadhrat Jaa'bir (RA) narrated that the Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"For the person who recites 'SUBHAN'ALLAH HIL AZEEM WA BIHAMDIHI' (Pure and Perfect is Allah in his glory and praise], - A date palm will be planted for him in Paradise". [ Tirmidhi ] 3) Treasures of Jannah Hadhrat Abu Dharr (RA) narrated that the Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :" Should I not tell you of one treasure of the unlimited treasures of Paradise?" I replied spontaneously "Oh Rasulallah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) that would be an honor indeed!" Rasulallah (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"That rare is 'LA HAWLA WA LA QUWWATA ILLA BILLAH."(There is no power and no strength except with Allah) [ Ibn Majah ] 4) A particular amazing room Abdallah Ibn 'Amr (RA) narrated that the Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"There is a room in Paradise whose outside is seen from its inside and whose inside is visible from its outside." So Abou Malk Al Ach'ari (MA) asked :"For whom is it, O Messenger of Allah?". He (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"These rooms will belong to the ones who speak good words, feed the poor, they fast and pray at night when people are at sleep." [ Reported by Tabarani and authenticated bu Shaykh Albani in Sahih Targhib No. 617) PS : These 4 conditions can be done during Ramadan since we have to fast, speak good, feed the poor (even if just once) and pray at night when people are asleep (after Taraweeh for example). So let's all strive for this amazing room. 5) Hoor Al Ain (women of Paradise) The Prophet (Sallalahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said :"Whoever suppresses anger and he is able to act upon it, then Allah (SWT) will call him on the day of judgement in front of everyone and make him choose whichever one of the women of Paradise he wants (of Al hoor Al Ayn)". [ Sahih Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud ] 6) An honorable place in Jannah Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever goes to the mosque in the morning and evening, Allah will prepare for him a place in Paradise for every morning and evening.” Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 631, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 669 PS : Let's not let go of all of these wonderful rewards. Whoever says (the above) a hundred times during the day, his sins are wiped away, even if they are like the foam of the sea.[Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:168, Sahih Muslim; #4:2071] 2. سُبْحَانَاللّهِوَبِحَمْدِهِ- SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi (Glory be to Allah and Praise Him) Abu Dharr reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, "Shall I tell you the words that Allah loves the most?" I said: "Yes, tell me, O Messenger of Allah." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The words dearest to Allah are: subhanAllah wa bihamdihi”. [ Muslim and at-Tirmidhi.] 3. سُبْحَانَاللّهِالْعَظِيمِوَبِحَمْدِهِ- SubhanAllahi 'l-`adheem wa biHamdihi (Glory be to Allah, The Supreme, and Praise Him) A palm tree is planted for the reciter [of the above] in Paradise.[at-Tirmidhi; 5:511, al-Hakim] 4. سُبْحَانَاللّهِوَبِحَمْدِهِ،سُبْحَانَاللّهِالْعَظِيمِ- SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi, Subhan-Allahi 'l-`adheem (Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme) Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, they are loved by the Most Merciful One." [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:67, Sahih Muslim, #4:2071] 5. سُبْحَانَاللّهِ- SubhanAllah (Glory be to Allah) Whoever recites [the above] one Hundred times, a thousand good deeds are recorded for him or a thousand bad deeds are wiped away.[Sahih Muslim; #4:2073.] 6. لاحَوْلَوَلاقُوَّةَاِلَّابِاللّهِ- La Hawla wa la Quwatta illa Billah (There is no Might or Power except with Allah) [the above is] a treasure from the treasures of Paradise.[Sahih al-Bukhari; al-Fath al-Bari #11:213, Sahih Muslim #4:2076] 7. سُبْحَانَاللّهِ،والْحَمْدُللّهِ،وَلااِلهَاِلَّااللّهُ،وَاللّهُاَكْبَرُ- SubhanAllah, walHamdulilah, wa La illaha ilAllahu, waAllahu Akbar (Glory be to Allah, All Praise is for Allah, There is No God but Allah, Allah is the Greatest) The above are mentioned as the four most beloved words to Allah. It does not matter with which one of them is begun.[Sahih Muslim; #3:1685] Abu Sa`id (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, "Perform the enduring goods deeds (al-baaqiyaat al-SaliHaat) more frequently." They asked, "What are these enduring good deeds?" The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) replied: Takbir [Allahu Akbar], Tahlil [la ilaha illallah], Tasbih [Subhan'Allah], alhamdulillah, and la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah. 8. سُبْحَانَاللّهِ،والْحَمْدُللّهِ،وَلااِلهَاِلَّااللّهُ،وَاللّهُاَكْبَرُ- SubhanAllah, walHamdulilah, wa La illaha ilAllahu, waAllahu Akbar (Glory be to Allah, All Praise is for Allah, There is No God but Allah, Allah is the Greatest) Prophet Muhammad (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:“For me to say (the above) is dearer to me and all that the sun rises upon (ie the whole world).”[Sahih Muslim; #4:2072] 9. سُبْحَانَاللّهِ،والْحَمْدُللّهِ،وَلااِلهَاِلَّااللّهُ،وَاللّهُاَكْبَرُ،وَلاحَوْلَوَلاقُوَّةَاِلَّابِاللّهِ- SubhanAllah, walHamdulilah, wa La illaha ilAllahu, waAllahu Akbar, wa la Hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (Glory be to Allah, All Praise is for Allah, There is No God but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, There is no might or any power Except with Allah) (The above) are the good deeds which endure[al-baqiyaatuS-SaliHaat] 10. سُبْحَانَاللّهِ،والْحَمْدُللّهِ،وَلااِلهَاِلَّااللّهُ،وَاللّهُاَكْبَرُ،وَلاحَوْلَوَلاقُوَّةَاِلَّابِاللّهِ- SubhanAllah, walHamdulilah, wa La illaha ilAllahu, waAllahu Akbar, wa la Hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (Glory be to Allah, All Praise is for Allah, There is No God but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, There is no might or any power Except with Allah) Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said: "During the Night Journey I met Ibrahim (alayhis salam) who said to me:‘O Muhammad, convey my greetings to your Community, and tell them that the Paradise is of pure land, its water is sweet, and its expanse is vast, spacious and even. And its seedlings are SubhanAllah, walhamdulilah, wa la ilaha ilAllah, waAllahu Akbar (the above).’” [at-Tirmidhi] 11. الْحَمْدُللّهِ- Alhamdulilah (All Praise is for Allah) - Verily the best supplication is (above). [Sahih Muslim; #4:2073] 12. لااِلهَاِلَّااللّهُ- La illaha ilAllah(u) (There is No God But Allah) Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:"When a servant of Allah utters the words la ilaha illallah (there is no God except Allah) sincerely, the doors of heaven open up for these words until they reach the Throne of Allah, so long as its utterer keeps away from the major sins.” [at-Tirmidhi] 13. لااِلهَاِلَّااللّهُ- La illaha ilAllah(u) (There is No God But Allah) Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, "Renew your faith." "How can we renew our faith?" they asked. The Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) replied: "Say always: la ilaha illallah."[Ahmad] 14. لااِلهَاِلَّااللّهُوَحْدَهُلاشَرِيكَلَهُ،لَهُالْمُلْكُوَلَهُالْحَمْدُوَهُوَعَلَىكُلِّشَيْءٍقَدِيرٌ- La illaha ilAllahu, waHdahu la shareeka lahu, lahul Mulku, wa lahul Hamd, wa Huwa ala kulli shaiy'in Qadeer (There is No God But Allah Alone, who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the raise, and He is Able to do all things) Whoever says the above ten times, will have the reward for freeing four slaves from the Children of Isma'il . [Sahih al-Bukhari; 7:67, Sahih Muslim; #4:2071] 15. لااِلهَاِلَّااللّهُوَحْدَهُلاشَرِيكَلَهُ،لَهُالْمُلْكُوَلَهُالْحَمْدُوَهُوَعَلَىكُلِّشَيْءٍقَدِيرٌ- La illaha ilAllahu, waHdahu la shareeka lahu, lahul Mulku, wa lahul Hamd, wa Huwa ala kulli shaiy'in Qadeer (There is No God But Allah Alone, who has no partner. His is the dominion and His is the raise, and He is Able to do all things) Whoever says the above one Hundred times, has the reward of freeing ten slaves, a hundred good deeds are recorded for him and a hundred bad deeds are wiped away and he has gained refuge from the devil that day until evening and none shall come with anything better except someone who has done more.[Sahih al-Bukhari; #4:95, Sahih Muslim; #4:2071] 16. أَسْتَغْفِرُاللَّهَالْعَظِيمَالَّذِيلاَإِلَهَإِلاَّهُوَالْحَيُّالْْقَيُّومُوَأَتُوبُإِلَيْهِ- Astaghfirullah al-'Adheemal-ladhi la ilaha illa Huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum wa atubu ilaih (I seek the forgiveness of Allah the Mighty, Whom there is none worthy except Him, the Living, The Eternal, and I repent unto Him) Whoever says the above words, Allah will forgive him even if he deserted the army's ranks.[Abu Dawud 2:85, at-Tirmidhi 5:569] 17. اللَّهُمَّأَنْتَرَبِّىلاَإِلهَإِلاَأَنْتَ،خَلَقْتَنِىوَأنَاعَبْدُكَوَأنَاعَلَىعَهْدِكَمااسْتَطَعْتُ،أعُوذُبِكَمِنْشَرِمَاصَنَعْت،أَبُوءُلَكَبِنِعْمَتِكَعَلَىَّوَأبُوءُبِذَنْبىفَاغْفِرْلِىفإِنَّهُلاَيَغْفِرُالذُّنُوبَإِلَّاأَنْتَ- Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, Anta Khalaqtani wa ana abduka, wa ana 'ala ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, A'udhu bika min Sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u Laka bini'matika 'alaiya, wa Abu Laka bidhanbi faghfirli innahu la yaghfiru adhdhunuba illa anta (O Allah! You are my Lord! None has the right to be worshipped but You. You created me and I am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to You all my sins. So I entreat You to forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You.) The above du'a is known as the Sayyid al-Istighfar and is the most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah. Whoever says it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise.[Sahih al-Bukhari 8, 75 #318] If someone implements ten verses of the Qur'an, He/She will not be considerate amongst the negligent on the Day of Judgment.[Abu Dawud, Ibn Hibban] If someone implements one hundred verses of the Qur'an, He/She will be considered among the obedient on the Day of Judgment.[Abu Dawud, Ibn Hibban] If someone implements one thousand verses of the Qur'an, He/She will be amongst the extremely rich on the Day of Judgement.[Abu Dawud, Ibn Hibban]
