Noooo u don't have to remove any leaves, u can propagate every node with a leaf (even ones w/o leaves, tho ive never done it personally)! I just leave the internode in tact to stabilize it better in the water, and it also allows wiggle room to give the end a fresh cut if it starts to rot. Great vids, tx for sharing!! Oh and another tip: I find adding a bit of fertilizer to the water helps with propagating... but not sure if factual... just my own observations 🤷‍♀️ haha

Hi Swedish Plant Guys! I received a cutting of scindapsus with its leaves all curled. This video has been really informative. I’ve had the cutting in water for several weeks now with no signs of infection or growth. The cutting is a longer vine, so would this method work to help promote root growth? Much appreciate your advice! Thank you. ✨🥰

Question for the Q&A video.. What is the differente between cuttings like yours (one node+one leaf) and the cuttings that contains only one leaf and the node is going to the soil directly. Thank you guys!

My pictus and pothos both have long vines, it's almost December. Should I wait until spring to trim?. I was planning to trim now but changed my mind after i saw this video. They both healthy plants.

Some teach that propagating cuttings should be put in darker areas so that the plant can put all of its energy on growing roots rather than more leaves. I am asking because I am propagating Scindapsus cuttings right now. Can you clarify why you recommend putting the cuttings in an area of bright-indirect light? Thank you!

What if you don't have a leaf? My Scindapsus put out a really long naked vine with several nodes but no leaves. I clipped it and put it in water to see if it would root, but nothing yet. On the other hand, the mother plant really enjoyed the haircut and has put out a new leaf!

I saw on another video that you can cut the nodes even without a leaf and propagate that node in sphagnum moss and it’ll grow root

As I have long leggy vine more than in video shown, I don’t want to cut much, but however as it was root rot, I cut it off all root now, and all the leaves are curl off, now I had put in the water , but instead can I put in perlite and peat moss until the root grows? Does it propagate ?

You can propagate a bare node in moist vermiculite or perlite in a box. It will root and grow new leaf as I did a few months ago. Good luck.

I used all of the advices and leaves are turning yellow one by one , there is no rotting nor stems going soft but somehow nodes are not growing anything, no roots no leaves 😢 I don’t know what is happening and why :( I even used a little bit of active carbon to assure there are no bacteria , I exchanged water 😢 I lost almost all of my stems :(

I've had 95% rate of success with pothos cuttings, but for some reason I had 3 cuttings of scindapsus pictus exotica in water and 2 of them are already dead after a three weeks. They rot. The other one I don't think it will survive either. Why is that?
@wanderer4834
@wanderer4834 3 жыл бұрын
One method that has helped me a lot of times in saving cuttings is this: gently wash the surviving cutting (the part that was under water), then put it in another clean glass, jar, whatever you use, with a diluted solution of hydrogen peroxide (I use one teaspoon of 3% concentration hydrogen peroxide in roughly 100 ml of clean tepid water). The hydrogen peroxide solution will help with killing the bacteria that most likely infected the cutting in the first place (and killed the other cuttings), while providing some much needed oxygen for the cutting to start forming roots. In my experience, if the cutting is still viable and can survive the infection, in several days you will began to see improvement and tiny roots forming. Once the process begins, they will grow like magic, it's absolutely incredible, no matter what plant it is. Good luck!
