I got an interview volunteer for a non profit organization as a human resource assistant and recruiter next week. I am being a caregiver for over 15 years with a two year degree in business. Opportunities knock. ✊

I did a pay cut and took a job with a well known company after leaving sales for another well known company where i made 90k to making 40k. The job I took was an Admin Assistant and then 3 months of being there I saw where they offered and Accelerated Development Program in HR. I have a degree and that is a must for these programs. I have being in training for 7 months and now make 60k in the program and have been offered 4 permanent positions in the company but I wanted to stay where zI am and now the opportunity has presented itself. I am applying as I listen to this video. I took 5 steps back a year ago and I am already almost back to where I was.

I am about to start taking a huge pay cut, around half of my current salary. This comment has helped me with anxiety to see others taking the leap as well!

Hi Timeka! This was very helpful. I’m wanting to start my HR journey at a later age. My background is in customer service and sales and seem to only get job offers in that area. I think individuals who doesn’t have a degree been in the field for years. I am pretty sure HR is asking for candidates to have a minimum BA/BS degree in anything.

Hi Timeka! I am currently a Recruiter and I’ve been in recruitment for 10 months now and I have a Master of Human Resource Management. Do you have any videos on workforce investigations and do you have any advice on a great next step after being a recruiter? I’m interested in Employee Relations or being an HR Generalist .. but I’m not certain. Any tips or can you create a video about different paths within the HR world? I love all of your helpful info! Hi Mariah, Crazy thing is I don’t have any videos on Workplace Investigations, but I’ll definitely add that and career paths in HR to the list. I recently got hired as a TA it’s been 4wks however I have been given tasks to work with CEO to book book flights an hotels along with food not HR related .... Can you offer any wisdom in this area? Really just want to focus on TA

Whaaattt??? I’m sorry to hear that! That would suck. I normally look at how many employees the company has, how many open positions they normally have, how many people are in the HR Dept & what their job titles are. Those things will give you an idea if the company really has a need for the role. In turn, that will indicate if your duties will be true to the role they’re hiring for. What industry are you working in?
