Some quick tips on how to handle over 1M rows of data in Excel, use Power Query and Power Pivot. Also covers sampling (so you can get a subset of the data into Excel for manual review) and enriching (think 'lookup table, but works for millions of rows'!).

Super useful video. Dabbled with Power Query here and there but this definitely peeled another few layers of the onion, esp linking two tables in the data model.

Power query is a heavy tool when it comes to linking other files (based on very few experiences) When it comes to creating pivots and calculations based on dates, it's better to have a separate date table in your module and have a connection with the data

Oh no! 😂 I often keep some of my FMWC prep until Sunday morning, because then my main competitors have finished... it lets me strike a bit of a balance between wanting to help others and not wanting to hurt myself! : )

When I load my data it is painfully slow. loads like 10K rows per 10 secs and I need to load 13M. Yours loaded so fast....how?

It might be because of the file type. CSV is quite fast to load, xls files are slower. That still sounds very slow though, so could be an issue with your computer.

Thanks Diarmuid. Did you know that you can copy a value from that statusbar to a cell? Just click (not right click) and paste... Interesting to see that someone with your Excel experience and skills is not that familiar with Power Pivot. It might have to do with your regular work?
