I spent hours on google searching for how to get google pictures and videos off my cell phone and on to my computer. I almost had a melt down. Why does google make this so damn hard to do and they provide absolutely NO support in trying to help. Thank you Mr. Tech Talk America YOU ARE THE BEST!

If you have photos stored in Google Photos, this is by far the easiest way to download ALL of them in one fell swoop.

This worked out great. I also wanted to add that after the download, I unzipped the folder and imported into my Lightroom Classic. From there I can still see the original meta data information and organize them faster.

Oh, so wait. I have a subscription to Adobe DC Pro but cancelled the all inclusive plan. I didn't need to pay $54/mo. The $20/mo to edit pdfs is enough. But my 45yr old brother died a few weeks ago and had everything locked down as most never think theyre going to die. Well, I got in being the wizard I am, into his accounts. I now have to sort through all the photos bc obviously he's got personal stuff and I'll respect that. We only grew up and knew each other our whole lives and nothing suprises me as I know most of it. So I have to get the family the "normal" photos of family, his kids, wife, etc. But I was afraid that once I grab all the photos, it just throws them all together at random and all of the order is gone. I remember my apple did that. So your saying LR will go ahead and keep the order of the photos and dates? That would be awesome as he has photos that go back 10yrs. But, when you export out of LR, will you lose the metadata again?

I did this last year and Google messed up the timestamps of every photo. When I uploaded the photos to another service, they all appeared as if they were taken on the day when I downloaded them from Google. I ended up semi-manually modifying the timestamps to match the timestamp specified in the filename. It was very annoying. Is this still an issue today? Thanks for the video.

I have a same question!!!! I also did this on my daughter's accounts about a year ago and their timestamps were also messed up. We manually adjusted one of my daughters timestamps, but haven't fixed the others yet. If the issue is fixed, I would love to just delete the photos from the mac and redownload them from google with the correct timestamps.

It will break it into seperate files for you. It would send you the email and show 4 50gb files.

Hope it's gonna work for me too. Hardly dare to try it. The other method I used (selecting and downloading the photos to my laptop in a zipfile) resulted in photos without or with a complete other date...

I've done this. But some of the photos don't upload to iCloud. Must be old photo or video formats that iCloud doesn't recognize.

I have gone into Google takeout, but Google photos seem to be missing. I have Google pay & Google play books with no photos between like I see on your screen. Are you able to tell me why that might be? Could it be particular settings? Much appreciation 🙏

Google's AI generated search results were useful for once. It used the steps from this video, verbatim, written out in bullet points as the answer to "how to download pictures from Google Mail account to pc"

Your pretty solid, so I find it hard to believe that Takeout served up your files the way they did with mine. I.E. missing, duplicate photos, metadata removed to a secondary file etc.

Hey I'm having issues downloading my videos on my laptop from google. I usually go up to the right corner and select download, after selecting the video from my list. But it has being downloading halfway and then stopping saying, "Failed Network Issue"

I got the photos downloaded.... Question: WHY don't the photos LOOK like PHOTOS after I download them, Unzip them, etc. They LOOK like file folders. You have to OPEN each one to SEE the actual "photo." What is wrong with this "picture?"

Remember when Google had a dedicated photos app which sync'd to your PC, and you could very easily & quickly manage your own photos. Now you had to jump through hoops just to delete a few images. Appalling

After downloading all of your photos from Google Photos using the process that you outlined...does it remove/delete all of your photos from Google Photos or are they still all remain in Google Photos?

Great question. This only downloads a copy. To completely remove them from Google Photos, you have to go to Google Photos on the web, click on the first photo, then hold the Shift key, and scroll to the bottom and select the last photo. Google Photos does not enable an option (from what I've found) to select all, so this seems to be the fastest way. Then send them to trash.

No, they will still be in Google photos. You have to delete them separately.

Sorry but I have to say it, THIS IS NOT A GOOD METHOD! you will loose all metadata (vital information in pictures which includes place, time, device, etc of the picture taken). Imagine organizing thousands of pictures and videos individually!

WARNING you will lose you exif data, these data will be separated to json file. Exif keep such data, as the day your photo was taken + many more information related to photo. 👎👎👎

@@cybcarr If you want to keep exif data, you have to download photo by photo. Not fun if more than 3 photos in total. Best way is, to keep an original copy in a separate drive and use google photos to share with friends. PS: if you upload from a Pixel 5, you will have unlimited photos / Video 1080 storage. This does NOT apply to KZfaq.
