Some good news. Amazon has acquired the rights to East Of West. Jonathan Hickman will collaborate with Robert Kirkman to make a TV series of the comic. I do not yet know if it will be an animation. But I'm optimistic, and I think it can be good.

Whaaaaaaat?!?! I don’t want to get excited, because a lot of things get optioned that never sees the light of day (including East of West at one point), but if this goes into production…. I will be a happy man.

@@penandreel6996 Same here. But it looks like this is going to happen (Amazon has also bought the rights to Transhuman). And after seeing what they can do with The Expance and Invincible, I have hope

I love the book, they should do a animated series of this. Like hbo todd mcfarlane spawn 1997 that was great have todd do the animated series of this be great.

Great review! I agree completely about making this into an animated series over a live action series. It would suit the tone and world of the comic so much more, hopefully without losing anything.

East of West owes more to Game of Thrones and an AMC show called Into The Badlands as well as the film Meet Joe Black then it does to TWD. It could be a great show in that it's a complex and compelling narrative that feels familiar to what's going on IRL (at least the politics of the book). I can see them making it work with animation but also in live action. Yes, it would need a lot of special effects but honestly the set pieces are so huge that I think it could be mostly done with 2nd tier computer graphics and nobody would be the wiser.

I agree completely. Do something like Netflix’s Castlevania series (maybe even that same team after that show ends) and I am sure fans would eat it up.

@@penandreel6996 For sure bro. Look at the success we just saw with Invincible. I think there’s so much potential when it comes to American animation for more mature stories. Looking at Castlevania is like watching a high end anime that caters specifically to western audiences and we can relate to it way more than with eastern stories.

Absolutely. WB has been successful with their animated DC movies as well. I think there is a definite market for it, but too long animation has been seen as for kids or comedy for adults. I am hoping Castlevania and Invincible wake Hollywood up to the prospect of doing more adult-oriented animated content, both movies and series.
