I lived in ER from 1970 to 1973. Graduated from ERHS in 1971. I worked for Paul at the Villege Fair and I am in this video. I was only 16 then and am now 64 years old. It was a blast to see myself in the video.

I was born in East Rochester in 1934 and lived there until I went to undergraduate college. I remember Mr. Parotta who had his photography studio on Commercial Street diagonally across from St. Jerome's church, as well as his daughter Judy. I am very grateful to him for having had the foresight to preserve a record of the environment in which we grew up.It is unfortunate that the cohesive town was destroyed by the mall set in its heart. It was a good place to grow up. I still consider it home.

I grew up in ER, went to ERHS, graduated in '76. I moved to Arizona in '79. My fondest memories are there with family, hated what they did with this urban renewal. This video brings me right back.

My Dad grew up in East Rochester. In fact, he is in this video! He is at the 10:00 mark. He is the tallest out of the four boys and is wearing the white jacket. My uncle is the second shortest of the boys. This is so funny to see because my Dad in this video looks exactly like my older sister! My grandfather also ran the Memorial Day parade in Easter Rochester for 30+ years. Thanks for posting this!

What's amazing to me is all of the period vehicles. And, a lot of them were from 1968-1970, meaning that people were doing well enough to own a new car or truck. I saw Camaros, chevelles, skylarks, f100's and many more that would be worth a lot more than people paid for them back then!

Fascinating to think all those kids and teenagers in this video are all in their 60's or even close to 70 now.

Moved from ER to FLA in 1972. Lived on Worthing Terrace. This is the town I remember. Moving to FLA as a youngster back then was definitely a culture shock. Lots of good memories. Sam's barber shop, Fiora's Pizza, high school football and basketball games. Was all good and not forgotten.

This is great stuff. I just had a conversation about this film today at the bank, met a woman who graduated ER in '70, got a little of her perspective about all the changes. I live in one of the old Gleason houses.

My family moved to ER in 1951 when our houses construction was completed on Roosevelt Rd. Graduated from ERHS 9n 68. I loved the Candy Kitchen1 I was around when the Techiplexx disaster happened what a huge error in judgment.

I lived in Pittsford, but had many relatives in ER (Cimicatta family). I watch this vid much love for the America we had, when everything we needed was on "Commercial Street" not Walmart (when pianos were made in ER, not China)

There are a lot of Italian Restaurants there now. I remember the bars which used to be there in 1972, when I was 18 years old. I attended Harp Karate in East Rochester, when I was in my early thirties.

Gotta wonder if the Urban Renewal program was really worthwhile. What would ER look like today if they hadn't demolished so much of the buildings? Would they have simply fallen into disrepair and vacancy, or would ER be more popular today? I'm not sure

So what year is this? Like around 1972 or 73? All the old cars though 😍 I can't believe our city existed in such a time, when I was still floating around in my dad's young ballsack. I was born in 89 and grew up in East Irondequoit. Used to go to the Koinonia Fellowship church on Commercial street back in the late 90s to the early 2000s and I also took my road test right by there lol. I think my instructor was a pastor at that church 😂. Did it used to be something different in the 70s? I think it turned into Koinonia in 1997.

Great video! Hope you have more. Moved to Syracuse when I was 5. But Mom brought us back almost every weekend. Grandparents (Bill & Ann Kreger) lived at 206 East Ave. during the time of this vid. Great memories of Lyons & Eyer parks. The community pool. Grandpa taking us to Mauro's downtown, buying us soda and playing pool.
