Thank you for not having music over the journey, and just the sounds of the train. There are plenty of KZfaqrs like Don Coffey who do this and get substantial interest, so I sincerely hope their success bleeds off a little into your channel 😃👍👍

Fascinating! A trip I have taken frequently (to Grantham) these past 25 years. I had no idea the second tunnel out of London was called Copenhagen - and had always assumed the tunnel before Grantham was the Grantham tunnel - I now learn it is called the Stoke tunnel (after Stoke Rockford, I assume). I’m lucky enough to go first class these days and always find the train crew charming and helpful (which is why I didn’t get stroppy turning the recent days of industrial action!).Nothing, though, beats the fantastic team at Grantham station!

Single beeps are from AWS (automatic warning system) if the train is approaching a green signal you hear a higher pitched beep, if it’s approaching a yellow or red signal you hear a lower pitched beep, if the tone isn’t acknowledged within a few seconds the emergency brakes will come on, the repeated beep is the dsd (drivers safety device) if acts as a deadman’s pedal, if the controls aren’t moved for 60 seconds the beeping starts and again if not acknowledged the emergency brakes come on
