Were The Firm like "The Mafia"? The US Soap Opera Guiding Light had a Mob Style Family called The Santos who "Collected" from The Folks on Fifth Street which was a Blue Collar Section but it wasn't as hard core as Albert Square. They allegedly "collected" from Convenience Stores, Dry Cleaners, and even Chinese Food Restaurants but we never saw them to Business.

Doctor Who Productions agreed it was an accidental death and even before the show started filming he told each and every cast and crew member what he done and they all excepted that he had served his time and that he could continue in his role as den and 35 years later here we are respecting Leslie's memory

If you recall they brought him back but had nothing for him to do. Then there was the off set problems where he exposed himself and slagged off cast members.

It might have been a hint. Leslie Grantham was only ever supposed to be in the soap for 18 months until they killed him off for good. All the rumours he was sacked were false. He was suspended and paid the price for the webcam scandal.

Yeah Andy didn't have it in him to kill. He really could of been a serial killer/gangster type.

Wouldn't really call him a thug, he mostly had the odd grab on someone and he only punched Ian and Alfie and they both hit him to he was mostly mind games he was like a harder version of Michael moon but a good villain. Andy got rough up and punched quite a bit.

Exactly, "The Firm" were big enough to make Den disappear for over a decade with him being so scared he couldn't even let his kids know he was alright....Two years later their leader, Andy, is getting chucked out of a spit and saw-dust pub (i.e. The Queen Vic) by Den backed up by a washed-up old timer (Jonny Allen) who's only gang consists of two morons (i.e The Moon Brothers)

Johnnys contacts magically disappeared when he was being chased around his own house by the Mitchell brothers with only unhinged loner Danny moon for backup

@@stemple11100 I think they wanted the viewer to see the difference with Johnny. When it was business, he had the connections. When it was personal, he went personal with a sidekick instead of his gang members. Having said that, after he killed Andy Hunter, he semi retired and only vendettas he got into after that were ALL personal.

No. Kat hurting Andy with Alfie Moon, really changed Andy into a bitter, twisted individual. I believe he did kill Paul because he fell from grace. He did have sympathy during this time, but that rapidly changed after Kat jilting him at the altar.

Incorrect, Paul became a snitch, then the heavies came after Andy and Paul, the man was going to kill Andy for thinking Andy snitched, Andy told him the truth it was Paul. Thats why Paul was killed. Paul shouldve kept it zipped and done a runner.

He wasn't hard but he was fearless and knew dangerous people. Even Phil Mitchell knew he was a dangerous man to mess with hence why he knew it would be better to take the money and leave than to attempt to take him out when he escaped from prison. In this scene he had no fear and later on overtook Andy as the boss of the square. Even Johnny Allen respected Den in the end. The only person who destroyed Den was Den himself. When Chrissie killed him he had become extremely mentally disturbed.

Phil took the money cause it was the smart thing to do. As overrated as Phil can be he would of took den out if he wanted to. Yes den was smarter but he had to set up Phil for armed robbery and then in their fight den tricked him. Plus Phil chucked him around when one of his arms was in a sling.

Den was the original hardman of the square, Phil came a few years later. Den was very balsy he wasnt a pushover.

dublife 99 Den was the hardest and most resilient character on the show. Even upon his return he re-established himself as the king of the square. He removed Phil and would take on anyone who messed with him (Andy Hunter included).

Physically he wasn't the hardest but psychologically, he probably was.
