Eastenders is falling behind in terms of writing, acting and storytelling lately it’s quite sad. Just trying to be like the glory days of Eastenders and it doesn’t work, Sharon a mid to late 40s women, wearing short skirts and trying to act sexy gets on my nerves not to mention trying to turn Mick into some sort of bad boy in the most unrealistic setting of prison I have ever seen, the list goes on and on. Then you switch to other soaps like Emmerdale having true to life storylines full of great writing and acting and just see the stark difference between them. Don’t get me wrong Eastenders has a few decent storylines now and then like with the stabbing but it’s bloated with the stupid gangster storylines and prison story, I hope it changes soon.

Appreciate the trailer; it allows me to be satisfied in missing all episodes until Halloween week. -Sick of seeing Keanu and Sharon snogging multiple times in every episode. -That Ruby rape storyline was so obvious to be happening; considering that a rape story hasn't happed for a while + returning female character = predictably. -Bored of Karmel's face and the 'gang' crap. -The Ray/Simon thing is the sort that feels like it's going to drag out for a century. -The Hayley baby story is so lame, by how they've brought in such an irrelevant and forgettable character and tried to combat her lameness by saying she's having a baby with a more respected character, hoping to make a shit story interesting. Nice to see Dot being given a new storyline though. Shame about everything else.

So glad to see not only June returning but also Leonard, in their roles as menthol chain smoking Christian Dot Cotton and retired Doctor, Dr. Harold Legg, the characters have so much history behind them, a reminder of the old East End of London. It is lovely when these two talk about the past. Two actors who play their part with truth and sincerity. Leonard maybe 92, but you can still see it is Dr.Legg. Even as Dot Cotton June looks nowhere near 91. Hope EastEnders remember how many layers Dot Cotton has, not just her bible quotations, but she is a hypochondriac, a menthol chain smoker and an arch gossip of the washing machines. Dot Cotton hadn't been nosey and gossipy in ages, lets hope she is on her return.

Also I’m not siding with the man who attacked Ruby, what if he is also as equally enebriated? Is it still all his fault, isn’t she then? I say this as someone who doesn’t drink. I’ve had to push away a drunken ex who wouldn’t take no for answer but to my standards was too drunk to properly consent herself. The world is filled with people ready and waiting to take advantage of the vulnerable. Maybe teaching a message of responsibility at the same time would be a good idea, but that’s victim blaming. I stopped watching coronation street for this very reason. Eastenders is currently the only reason for me to a pay the tv license. I don’t watch tv at all live but I do watch the catchup on iPlayer for eastenders. Looks like I’m saving 150 quid a year now.
